Job Description
THE SELECTED CANDIDATE WILL BE OFFERED A SALARY BETWEEN $107,137.00 - $123,208.000.
The Administration for Children's Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of children and families through child welfare and juvenile justice services and community supports. ACS manages community-based supports and foster care services, and provides subsidized child care vouchers. ACS child protection staff respond to allegations of child maltreatment. In juvenile justice, ACS oversees detention, placement and programs for youth in the community.
The Division of Youth and Family Justice (DYFJ) provides a wide range of services and programs for youth at every stage of the juvenile justice process. Our goals are to (a) build stronger and safer communities and advance public safety by preventing juveniles from entering the New York City's juvenile justice system, (b) provide therapeutic treatment and services to youth in our custodial care, and (c) help juveniles access the tools they need to leave the justice system for good. We strive to help families and young people by providing supportive services that are responsive to the needs of individual youth and families.
DYFJ directly operates two secure detention facilities for Juvenile Delinquents, Juvenile Offenders and Adolescent Offenders whose cases are pending in Family Court or the Youth Parts in Supreme Court: Crossroads Juvenile Center in Brooklyn and Horizon Juvenile Center in the Bronx, where youth receive comprehensive services including medical, dental, mental health care, and education.
Under supervision, with latitude for independent action and the exercise of independent judgment, the Genetec Systems Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining Genetec Security System infrastructure consisting of multiple Genetec servers, storage, cameras, and door access controls. The candidate specific duties will include:
- Plan, design, install, configure, secure, maintain, and support all Genetec servers and storage infrastructure
- Architect and design the enterprise federated Genetec security system for multiple sites
- Implement and manage Genetec occupancy management system for capacity tracking and monitoring
- Analyze and monitor server resources utilization to ensure optimum server/storage performance by alleviating the bottlenecks
- Set up the highest level of redundancy using SQL mirroring, fail-over directory features, archive transfers, and automate database backups
- Arrange Genetec recording schedules with various resolutions to maintain video data quality without sacrificing valuable resources
- Manage Genetec user accounts, privileges and permissions, and roles with redundancy
- Assemble and configure automated monitoring stations
- Put together on demand and scheduled reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis
- Maintain activity and audit log repository to generate usage and audit reports
- Work with maps and mobile features in Genetec and construct watermark and encryption add-ons
- Develop, validate, and implement an overall strategy for system upgrades and patching Genetec servers, including security updates on a regular schedule
- Create, test, implement, and maintain a standard image for Genetec client installation for desktops
- Ensure that all changes to the environment adhere to established Change Management policies and procedures
- Work closely with various teams such as the infrastructure team technical support database administrators, system administrators, facilities, and program areas to resolve Genetec system issues
- Evaluate new security systems requirements for Genetec solutions
- Produce and maintain Genetec server and storage architecture diagrams using MS Visio
- Lead and develop comprehensive project plans for Genetec security projects
- Evaluate and recommend Genetec technology solutions to support business needs
- Put up and monitor system alerts using the built-in Genetec features to provide 24x7 support and high availability
- Liaise with vendors to troubleshoot technical issues
- Follow the communication protocol for system failures/outages and file incident reports
- Escalate major hardware/software problems to senior IT staff
- Respond to Service Desk tickets related to the Genetec environment
- Prepare system configurations and management/support documentation and provide training and knowledge transfer to other team members as needed
- Maintain inventory of Genetec infrastructure - hardware and software assets
- Available for on-call duty as needed
- Willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays
- May be required to work mandatory overtime

Qualifications
Professional/vendor certification(s) in local area network administration that is required for the position to be filled. In addition, all candidates must have the following:
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, and two years of satisfactory full-time (not classroom based) experience in local area network planning, design, configuration, installation, troubleshooting, integration, performance monitoring, maintenance, enhancement, and security management; or
2. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six years of satisfactory full-time (not classroom based) information technology experience of which at least 2 years must have been as described in "1" above; or
3. A masters degree in computer science or a related field from an accredited college may substitute for one year of experience. However, all candidates must have at least one year of satisfactory (not classroom based) full-time information technology experience as described in "1" above.
