Job Description

The Department of Social Services (DSS) is comprised of the administrative units of the New York City Human Resources Administration (HRA) and the Department of Homeless Services (DHS). HRA is dedicated to fighting poverty and income inequality by providing New Yorkers in need with essential benefits such as Food Assistance and Emergency Rental Assistance. DHS is committed to preventing and addressing homelessness in New York City by employing a variety of innovative strategies to help families and individuals successfully exit shelter and return to self-sufficiency as quickly as possible.
Information Technology Services (ITS) is DSS's technology services organization. ITS mission is to support the daily, emergent, and long-term needs of both agencies. ITS creates and enhances the technology infrastructure and computer applications that support HRA and DHS and develops applications, including a variety of client eligibility and recertification systems, case management systems, housing systems, employment/work engagement services, revenue producing computer matches, claiming systems, and personnel systems.
Information Technology Services (ITS) is recruiting for one (1) IT Infrastructure Engineer, to function as Genetec Security Administrator, who will:
- Manage the day-to-day operation, monitor, and troubleshoot of Genetec Security Center systems, including Omnicast (video management) and Synergis (access control).
- Support Genetec Directory and Archiver servers, cameras, access control devices, body cameras (BWC), and assist with infrastructure tasks such as patching and server support.
- Work alongside senior engineers, to accomplish and maintain large-scale security project and server support, perform routine system health checks on servers, storage, and cameras; support Genetec Directory, Archiver, and Failover servers with guidance from senior engineers and monitor video retention, bandwidth utilization, and storage performance.
- Provide helpdesk support for issuance of ID cards and troubleshoot access card issues; configure card printers, update door schedules, manage user groups and monitor and support Cloud link status and perform corrective actions as required.
- Assist with Genetec server infrastructure tasks, firmware upgrades, and security patching; respond to Service Desk tickets related to CCTV and access control systems; download and provide video evidence on request and assist in installations, system upgrades, and vendor coordination for new deployments. Document incidents, troubleshoot steps, and configure changes.
- Maintain accurate inventory of security infrastructure assets; run scheduled daily, weekly, and monthly system reports and collaborate with senior staff to update system diagrams and documentation.

Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering or a related field and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to datacenter engineering and operations, cloud engineering and operations, complex IT infrastructure engineering; or,
2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and eight years of satisfactory full-time experience related to datacenter engineering and operations, cloud engineering and operations, complex IT infrastructure engineering; or,
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above.
