Job description

Overview
The Supply Distribution Supervisor oversees daily operations of supply and equipment distribution throughout the hospital. This role includes supervising staff, managing schedules, supporting inventory processes, and ensuring timely and accurate movement of materials. The supervisor collaborates with leadership on budgeting, policy development, and recruitment, while also promoting staff education and departmental compliance.
Responsibilities
Selects, Supervises and evaluates Supply Distribution staff; prepares and adjusts employee work schedule according to available staff and workload.
Plans, organizes, and controls the movement of supplies and equipment
throughout the hospital. Assists Assistant Director in budget planning; controlling expenses;variance explanations associated with supply/equipment usage. Assists Assistant Director in preparing and revising Departmental Policies and Procedures, Job descriptions. etc. Assists with the recruitment and selection of potential employees.
Assists Inventory Analyst with Physical Inventory and helps with re-orders,
Cycle counts when needed.
Teaches/directs/advises/informs others in an appropriate manner.
a. Assures departmental orientation for new employees.
b. Communicates Policy and Procedure and other pertinent information to
Supply Distribution staff.
c. Provides ongoing in-services for staff ensuring a basic understanding of the supplies and equipment stocked in Supply Distribution. Ensures staff development and education.
Provides exceptional customer service.
a. Coordinates with user departments the storage and delivery of supplies and equipment on a scheduled basis.
b. Establishes and maintains Quality Improvement indicators and standards in the department.
c. Monitors and maintains a high level of customer satisfaction.
Use equipment/supplies correctly.
a. Monitors and maintains adequate equipment for patient use.
b. Assures standardized stocked supplies are allocated for departmental use.
Maintains departmental safety standards.
a. Promotes and monitors Supply Distribution staff compliance to Safety
and Infection Control Policies and Procedures, including annual Lockout/ Tagout Reviews and access to MSDS.
b. Monitors and ensures the cleanliness of the Supply Distribution area.
c. Ensures compliance to OSHA and JCAHO guidelines.
Qualifications
High School Graduate. Prefer Associate Degree in Computer, Business, or hospital related field. Two years supervisory experience in Medical/Surgical Supply setting, or other inventory control environment is preferred. Current NC/SC driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
Office automation/personal computer skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills; communicates effectively with adult population. Working knowledge of automated inventory systems and inventory principles. Strong administrative skills to support director and Assistant Director in the form of reports, budgets, supply utilization, QI Monitoring, etc. Ability to prioritize daily, weekly, and monthly tasks based on business needs.
Ability to access entire facility. Manual dexterity, hearing acuity, and verbal ability. Ability to walk, stand, stoop, and/or bend for long periods of time. Safety lift packages and supplies weighing up to 50 lbs.
