HR Strategy Consultant- Fractional Schedule
Location: Pittsburgh, PA (Hybrid Onsite with Clients/Remote)
Minimum Requirements: Commitment to 20 hours/week and working a minimum 4 days/week regularly
The Role
You've spent years mastering the complexities of HR and people operations. You're a problem solver by nature, but your current life season requires a different kind of balance.
Compass is looking for a Consultant who wants to keep their seat at the table without that meaning working 40 hours a week. We need a high-level HR practitioner who can provide real-time service to our clients, ensuring that strategic momentum never stalls.
This is a hands-on, tactical, and strategic delivery role designed for a professional who thrives on variety. You will be the boots on the ground partner for our clients, translating high-level business goals into seamless HR execution.

We aren't looking for a temporary resource or a freelancer. We are looking for a core member of the Compass team who simply works a tighter, more intentional schedule.
  • The 4-Day Presence: While the total hours are part-time, your availability is key. By spreading ~20 hours across a minimum of 4 days/week, you remain a consistent, reliable advisor for clients who need real-time solutions regularly.
  • Pittsburgh Based Required: Being local allows you to plug into our culture and meet face-to-face with our Compass Team and our clients when it matters most.
What You'll Do
  • Translate business objectives into people priorities and lead high-level discussions with client leadership.
  • Manage the full HR lifecycle, from building performance management cycles and facilitating training to performing turnover data analysis and conducting recruiting screens.
  • Partner with in-house subject matter experts to implement bespoke organizational strategies that fuel growth and retention.
  • Develop customized deliverables for clients to support business strategy and organizational needs.
  • Contribute expert advice based on current best practices in the field to fuel growth, retention, and engagement for our clients.
Who You Are
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or Master's in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of seven years of progressive HR experience required, experience as a Manager or higher within a consulting organization or an in-house HR team highly preferred.
  • While we don't expect craft expertise in every area of HR, you must have a strong command of the generalist landscape. Being able to comfortably handle client requests in at least 50% of the pick list below is required:

  • Willingness and availability to work at least 20 hours per week and 4 days per week required.
  • Willingness and ability to meet clients onsite in the Greater Pittsburgh region as often as once per week required.

The pay rate for this role is hourly at a range between $45-$60/hour, depending on relevant background and experience.
