Fractional Director information

What is a fractional director?

A Fractional Director is an experienced executive who works with a company on a part-time or contract basis, rather than as a full-time employee. They typically provide strategic leadership and guidance in specific areas such as finance, operations, marketing, or technology. Fractional Directors are often hired by small or growing businesses that need high-level expertise but do not require a full-time director. This arrangement allows companies to benefit from specialist knowledge and experience without the cost of a permanent executive. Fractional Directors can work with multiple organizations simultaneously, offering flexible and scalable support.

How do fractional directors typically integrate with existing leadership teams to drive results?

Fractional Directors often work part-time or on a contract basis, so they need to quickly build rapport with existing leadership and staff. Successful integration involves establishing clear communication channels, understanding the company’s culture and goals, and setting well-defined expectations with stakeholders. They frequently act as strategic advisors, prioritizing key initiatives and collaborating closely with department heads to implement process improvements. This role requires adaptability and strong interpersonal skills to effectively drive change and deliver value within a limited timeframe.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a fractional director, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Fractional Director, you need extensive leadership experience, strategic business acumen, and a proven track record in driving organizational growth, often backed by an advanced degree or relevant industry certifications. Familiarity with business intelligence tools, CRM platforms, and project management systems is highly valued. Exceptional communication, adaptability, and relationship-building skills help Fractional Directors quickly integrate and deliver value across diverse organizations. These abilities are crucial for providing impactful, short-term leadership that addresses specific business challenges and accelerates results.

Job description

About the Opportunity

A well-capitalized aviation venture is launching a next-generation fractional aircraft ownership program in partnership with an established operator. This is a rare opportunity to play a foundational leadership role shaping a new entrant in the private aviation market.

We are seeking a commercially minded builder and strategist to design, launch, and scale a high-growth fractional ownership business. This role combines strategy, P&L ownership, partnership leadership, and go-to-market execution—with direct visibility to executive leadership.

The Role

As Vice President, Fractional Program & Strategy, you will lead the end-to-end development and performance of the fractional ownership offering. You will architect the program, define its competitive positioning, and drive revenue outcomes—while serving as the primary strategic interface with a key operating partner.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in building from zero to one, enjoys balancing strategy with execution, and brings deep knowledge of business aviation, fractional programs, or charter economics.

What You’ll Do

Program Strategy & Design

  • Build and evolve a differentiated fractional ownership program (pricing models, share structures, contract terms, lifecycle design)
  • Define competitive positioning against leading industry providers
  • Shape the customer journey from acquisition through long-term ownership

Commercial & Financial Leadership

  • Own program economics, including pricing strategy, margin performance, and long-term profitability
  • Develop and maintain sophisticated financial models and business cases
  • Monitor performance and proactively identify risks and growth opportunities

Partnership Leadership

  • Serve as the primary strategic counterpart to senior leadership of the operating partner
  • Drive alignment on fleet planning, operational capacity, and commercial strategy
  • Lead cross-company coordination to ensure execution excellence

Fleet Strategy & Planning

  • Define fleet mix and sourcing strategy to support program growth
  • Partner on long-term fleet planning and capacity alignment
  • Evaluate market opportunities for aircraft acquisition and deployment

Sales & Marketing Leadership

  • Lead and develop sales and marketing functions with a strong focus on performance
  • Establish revenue targets, pipeline discipline, and forecasting rigor
  • Drive go-to-market strategy and ensure alignment with program design

What You Bring

Experience

  • 10+ years in business aviation, with experience in fractional ownership required
  • Proven track record in program development, commercial strategy, or P&L ownership
  • Experience working across strategic partnerships or joint ventures
  • Strong background in financial modeling and capital-intensive business environments
  • Experience leading or closely collaborating with sales and marketing teams

Capabilities

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate ideas into executable programs
  • Strong commercial acumen with deep understanding of pricing and market dynamics
  • Skilled at influencing and aligning stakeholders across organizations
  • Comfortable operating in a build-stage, fast-moving environment
  • Excellent communication and executive presence

Why This Role

  • Build something from the ground up with meaningful ownership and impact
  • Operate at the intersection of strategy, operations, and revenue leadership
  • Partner with experienced industry operators and executive stakeholders
  • Join a venture backed by strong financial and operational resources
  • Significant opportunity for career growth and long-term value creation

Total Rewards

  • Competitive Base Salary (pay will be based on several variables that include, but not limited to geographic location, work experience, etc.)
  • Performance-based incentives tied to program success
  • Manager Lease Car Program (No Cost - Car, Maintenance, and Insurance included)
  • Industry-leading Benefit Plans (Medical, Dental, Vision, Rx)
  • Paid time off, including vacation, holidays, shutdown
  • Company Paid Short-Term and Long-Term Disability
  • 401K Plan with company match + additional contribution
  • Relocation assistance

Career Growth

  • Advancement Opportunities
  • Career Mobility
  • Education Reimbursement for Continued learning
  • Training and Development Programs

Additional Offerings

  • Lifestyle Account
  • Childcare Reimbursement Account
  • Elder Care Support
  • Tuition Assistance & Student Loan Repayment
  • Wellbeing Program
  • Community Service and Engagement Programs
  • Product Programs
