Position Summary

The General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, operational performance, financial success, and continued growth of Second Chance Removal and works closely with leadership regarding strategic direction. The General Manager provides leadership across every aspect of the business, including sales, marketing, estimating, project management, operations, customer experience, financial performance, staff development, and mission integration. The General Manager is accountable for growing revenue, improving profitability, developing new business opportunities, and ensuring every project reflects EMERGE's commitment to exceptional customer service and participant development. The General Manager works closely with the leadership of Furnish Office & Home and Second Chance Recycling to maximize reuse opportunities, increase recycling, improve operational efficiency, and advance Enterprise-wide initiatives.

Core Job Functions:

The General Manager performs a wide range of duties including but not limited to the following:

  • BA in Business, Marketing or related field preferred or equivalent combination of post-secondary education and relevant work experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience including sales and management roles
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
  • Ability to work effectively in a mission-driven agency whose clients and staff reflect significant diversity with respect to race, ethnicity, gender, orientation, socio-economic status, nationality and religion.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with others, both internally and externally, to achieve the goals of the organization.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences using appropriate and effective communication tools and techniques.
  • Demonstrated skills in Microsoft Office 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience with online social media and related technology is desirable (i.e. Meta, LinkedIn etc.).
  • Experience/familiarity in setting up and working with Field Service Management tools
  • Experience utilizing communication technologies is a plus. (i.e. website software, video and collateral material creation)
  • Ability to travel within the metro area and occasionally throughout the United States
  • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with agency managers and leaders to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions that enhance organizational effectiveness.
  • Ability to assess situations to determine the importance, urgency and risks, and make clear decisions which are timely and in the best interests of the organization.
Working Conditions and Environment:

Workplace is flexible and could be based at home or at one at one of the Emerge Enterprise sites: Second Chance Recycling is a fully-accessible multi-floor building; Furnish Office & Home is a partially-accessible multi-floor building. A significant percentage of the position’s time is expected to be in the field selling and building relationships and partnerships with current and future customers. Hours will vary depending upon need but typically the work will occur between 8 am – 6 pm Monday – Friday, with occasional evenings and Saturdays. Regular local travel, and occasional out of state travel, will be required.
