Position Overview:

As a Military Advising Specialist I, you'll be the primary point of contact for our incoming military students, expertly advising them on Veteran's Affairs (VA) benefits, as well as federal, state, and institutional funding options. You'll ensure a smooth start to their educational journey by providing timely, accurate information, managing their document collection, and proactively resolving any funding-related questions.

  • Hourly Rate: $28.00 per hour
  • Hours: 8 am - 5 pm and two days 11 am - 8 pm. This is a remote position and must be willing to work AZ hours.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver world-class service by advising military students on VA benefits and various funding options via a virtual contact center.
  • Proactively manage a student portfolio, ensuring document collection and outlining necessary steps for enrollment.
  • Serve as the primary contact for student account issues, including financial aid, VA benefits, and billing.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to research and resolve complex funding and financial aid inquiries.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of military educational benefits, institutional policies, and federal/state guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Education: High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of Veterans Affairs and financial aid advising experience is a plus. Experience in a remote contact center environment is a plus.
  • Skills: Experience with Military/VA, state, and/or federal (Title IV) funding in higher education.
  • Skills: Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Skills: Ability to work independently in a remote setting and collaborate in a fast-paced virtual contact center.
  • Skills: Strong analytical, decision-making, and interpersonal skills with a people-first approach.
  • Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and foundational knowledge of VA-ONCE.
