Job description

Savannah River Mission Completion is seeking a Configuration Management Engineer - Senior Engineer III (*may be eligible for telework) to be based in our Aiken, SC location on the Savannah River Site.

The Configuration Management Engineer in the Operational Technology (OT) Systems organization will provide programmatic support to the facilities and OT organizations.  They will be responsible for maximizing/optimizing the efficiency of OT systems and processes to facilitate SRMC’s mission while ensuring compliance to State, Federal, and local codes and requirements as set forth by regulatory agencies including the Department of Energy.  They will be expected to use their experience and creativity to provide innovative solutions that require in-depth analysis of multiple tangible and intangible factors and the creative use of established methods.

  • Development, maintenance, interpretation, and optimization of OT systems, processes, and procedures
  • Performance/support and procedural interpretation of reviews and assessments, including causal analysis and corrective action development, to ensure compliance with Site/Company level procedures and DOE Orders
  • Enabling the acceleration of optimization activities to support the SRMC missions and objectives
  • Alignment of a common set of procedures and practices across SRMC facilities to maximize efficiency
  • Implementation of regulatory changes
  • Maintenance of OT software configuration management systems
  • Other duties as assigned

  • BS Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university with relevant professional engineering experience

*Additional Information:

This position may support a percentage of telework in accordance with the SRMC Telework Policy (Remote Restricted: The employee must remain within the local commuting area - e.g., within 2 hours - of the worksite for business reasons.)
Teleworking employees may work offsite, typically at home. All teleworking arrangements must be approved at the discretion of Management on a case-by-case basis based on a number of factors, including – without limitation – business need, the nature of the job, employee experience, management preference, and state-by-state legal compliance/requirements.


  • Experience in leading and managing complex technical teams and projects
  • Experience within the DOE complex working with DOE Orders and procedural compliance
  • Working knowledge of Software Quality Assurance and engineering standards, speifically ASME NQA-1
  • Ability to interface effectively with various clients, cross disciplinary departments, support organizations, and management, and periodically with outside stakeholders/organizations (e.g. DOE, regulators, affiliates, companies)
  • Good organizational and communication skills. Ability to express ideas concisely and clearly, both verbally and in writing

Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC), a prime contractor for the US Department of Energy, is responsible for managing the Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site’s Liquid Waste operations contract. Located in Aiken, South Carolina, SRMC is a limited liability company formed by nuclear operations and environmental remediation global leaders BWXT, Amentum, and Fluor.
