Job description

The Project Manager, Emulation, is responsible for the intake, planning, execution, and delivery tracking of all emulation projects. This role ensures that emulation work is clearly defined, properly prioritized, and executed with discipline, transparency, and predictability.
The Project Manager serves as the central coordinator among stakeholders, developers, and leadership, translating incoming project needs into structured plans with clear requirements, ownership, milestones, and completion criteria. Success in this role is measured by delivery predictability, clarity of work, backlog health, and consistent follow-through-not activity alone.
This role reports to the Manager, DevOps, Emulation, and Software Tools, and works closely with engineering teams to ensure work is actionable, visible, and aligned to broader software delivery outcomes. The position is not responsible for technical implementation but is accountable for ensuring work is well-defined, prioritized, and completed.
Job Functions:
  • Own the intake process for all emulation requests, ensuring requests are clearly defined, scoped, and aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Translate stakeholder needs into structured work, including epics, user stories, tasks, and acceptance criteria.
  • Maintain and actively manage the emulation backlog, ensuring clarity, prioritization, and readiness of work.
  • Coordinate with technical leads and engineers to ensure work is actionable and properly sized.
  • Plan and track project execution across multiple concurrent emulation efforts.
  • Provide clear, consistent, and evidence-based progress reporting to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Identify risks, dependencies, and gaps early; proactively drive resolution to avoid delivery issues.
  • Ensure projects have defined milestones, timelines, and completion criteria.
  • Facilitate team ceremonies as needed (e.g., backlog refinement, sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews).
  • Ensure visibility of work status, blockers, and upcoming deliverables across all projects.
  • Coordinate across teams and external stakeholders to manage dependencies and alignment.
  • Support release readiness by ensuring requirements, testing expectations, and deliverables are aligned.
  • Organize and support progress demos, stakeholder reviews, and delivery checkpoints.
  • Drive disciplined execution and follow-through across all emulation workstreams.
  • Ensure backlog and active work align with broader goals of improving delivery speed, quality, and predictability.

  • 15% overnight travel (Travel expenses paid by Toyota Automated Logistics)

Required Qualifications and Preferred Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 3 years of experience in project management, delivery coordination, or technical program management.
  • Proven experience in project or program management within a technical or engineering environment.
  • Strong ability to translate ambiguous requests into well-defined, structured work.
  • Demonstrated experience managing backlogs, prioritization, and delivery tracking.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and execution discipline.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with competing priorities.
  • Strong communication skills across technical teams and leadership.
  • Experience facilitating Agile or flow-based delivery practices.
  • Familiarity with DevOps, software delivery lifecycle, or technical product development.
  • Exposure to emulation, simulation, or testing platforms is preferred.
  • Ability to identify and manage dependencies, risks, and cross-team coordination.
  • Strong bias toward clarity, ownership, and completion of work.
