TheUIC Retzky College of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmacy Practice, is seeking afull-time, motivated professional for the position of Clinical Faculty (OpenRank)/Clinical Pharmacist who will be assigned to UI Health's inpatient AddictionConsult Team (ACT).
Theideal candidate will be responsible for providing pharmaceutical care to hospitalizedpatients with substance abuse disorders, including, but not limited to, opioidsand alcohol. The hospital is a 450-bed academic institution locatedapproximately 2 miles west of downtown Chicago. The hospital serves an urban,indigent patient population.

Duties:
The ACT clinical pharmacist is an integralmember of the hospital's multidisciplinary team. The Clinical Pharmacist'sduties include optimizing medication management for patients diagnosed withsubstance use disorders, ensuring the coordination of drug therapy decision-makingamong healthcare personnel, and coordinating the medication management of thispatient population during the transition from hospital admission to hospitaldischarge.
The academicresponsibilities of the clinical faculty member (ClinicalAssistant/Associate/Full Professor) include the provision of didacticlectures and precepting entry-level Doctor of Pharmacy students, PGY1 residents,and PGY2 residents. Scholarly activities, including presentations andpublications, are an expectation as well. Academic rank commensurate withexperience.
Qualifications:
  • PharmD and PGY1 residency experience required.
  • PGY2 Psychiatric Pharmacy Residency or Fellowship in psychiatry or substance abuse disorder management is preferred
  • Candidates must present evidence of, or eligibility for, Illinois licensure as a professional pharmacist at time of employment.
  • Highly preferred: strong clinical knowledge base; analytical and problem-solving skills; strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to consistently meet deadlines; demonstrate flexibility and ability to work independently and adapt to a changing work environment; excellent planning, time management and organizational skills.
