Audio Visual (AV) Technician – 1099 Contractor

Binghamton, NY | $30/hr | Overtime Eligible | Travel Reimbursed

We are seeking an entry-level Audio Visual (AV) Technician to support conference rooms, video conferencing systems, and basic IT services in a corporate environment. This is an open-ended 1099 independent contractor role with the potential to convert to full-time employment after 12 months.

This role is ideal for a hands-on technician with foundational AV or desktop support experience who is dependable, customer-focused, and comfortable working onsite.


Key Details

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Rate: $30/hour (1099 – no benefits)
  • Travel: ~40% within NY State (reimbursed)
  • Overtime: Available based on business needs

Responsibilities

  • Ensure conference room AV and video conferencing systems are fully operational.
  • Provide onsite support for meetings and scheduled events.
  • Assist with installation, relocation, and basic setup of AV equipment.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and preventative maintenance.
  • Support video conferencing platforms including Zoom, Microsoft Teams Rooms (MTR), and WebEx.
  • Create, update, and close ServiceNow tickets related to AV and IT support.
  • Provide basic support for:
    • Video conferencing systems
    • Desk phones and IP phones
    • Mobile devices (phones and tablets)
    • Printers and scanners
  • Assist with:
    • Apple ID and mobile device password resets
  • Escort and coordinate with third-party vendors as needed.
  • Perform minor technical tasks (device retrieval, toner replacement, equipment testing).

Required Qualifications

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in AV support, desktop support, or IT field services.
  • Basic knowledge of AV systems and video conferencing technology.
  • Familiarity with Windows environments and mobile devices.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to follow procedures and document work clearly.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within NY State.
  • Ability to lift up to ~50 lbs.
