Job Description: DME CAD Design Engineer / Administrator
Position Summary
The DME CAD Design Engineer / Administrator supports the Die Maintenance and Engineering (DME) group by managing CAD infrastructure, modeling precision components, and coordinating procurement data. Operating out of our Seymour, Indiana facility, this role acts as a critical technical bridge between internal engineering teams, die maintenance departments, and external vendors to maintain data accuracy and optimize production tools.

Key Responsibilities
CAD Management & Design Support
  • File Verification: Collaborate with Die Maintenance and Engineering groups to verify that new die detail files are correct, precise, and ready for use.
  • Server Administration: Monitor, maintain, update, and organize the central CAD server to ensure optimal data structure and access.
  • 3D Modeling & Reverse Engineering: Utilize advanced in-house reverse engineering techniques to recreate CAD models and quickly generate 3D models to support active engineering workflows.
  • Team Skill Development: Mentor and work alongside other members of the DME team to elevate and develop a high level of technical CAD skill across the department.

Inventory, Procurement & Cost Management
  • Data Calibration: Utilize ERP systems to adjust inventory Min/Max settings within the DME group to consistently match real-time production demands.
  • Data Integration: Update system item descriptions as needed to maintain accuracy across databases.
  • Cost Reduction Support: Partner with DME Engineers to identify component candidates suitable for cost-reduction initiatives and document savings for upper management presentations.
  • Procurement Engineering: Work alongside the Die Procurement group to ensure CAD data is perfect for new dies. Coordinate with vendors on new CAD files and actively create purchasing requisitions for components required in new tool builds.
  • Vendor Relations: Build, foster, and maintain exceptional working relationships with vendors to resolve technical and delivery issues swiftly.

Skills and Experience Required
Education & Experience
  • Automotive Core: 5+ years of direct Die Maintenance experience specifically within the automotive manufacturing field.

Technical & Software Capabilities
  • CAD Software: Intermediate proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
  • Systems & Admin: Novice to Intermediate proficiency in Oracle and the Microsoft Office Suite.
