Job description

Position Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Human Resources, the Employee Health Nurse coordinates the employee occupational/workers comp program by developing protocols, reporting and record keeping. Assists with implementation of health and safety education programs in the workplace. Administers direct and indirect care to ill/injured employees and evaluates outcomes in an effort to provide a healthy, productive workforce.
Job Responsibilities
  • Obtains health histories and performs preplacement screenings.
  • Reviews results of lab and radiology test in compliance with local, state and hospital-required screening/testing, conducts immunizations.
  • Treats minor illnesses and accidents including follow-up care when required.
  • Assists with the Family Medical Leave of Absence (FMLA), Short Term Disability (STD) and Hospital Medical Leave of Absence programs for hospital employees.
  • Maintains the hospital OSHA 300 log, calculates lost work days, summarizes annual totals and ensures posting required.
Education/Experience
  • Graduate of accredited nursing program with current Indiana Licensure, BS degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of varied nursing experience, primary nursing care areas such as public or community health, industrial/occupational nursing/emergent care.
  • Possesses well-developed assessment and organizational skills; sell starter; people orientated, ability to handle large amounts of paperwork; willingness to accept new job responsibilities.
