THE ROLE
We have a brand new opportunity due to growth for an Electronics Engineering Technician skilled in electronics, PCBs and discrete components for GPU-based compute platforms. You will work with oscilloscopes, lab electronic test equipment, power supplies, digital multimeters, digital analyzers, impedance analyzers, and server hardware including removal, repair and replacement soldering of discrete components and more. In this role, you will support Engineering teams in hardware, systems, and infrastructure in enabling reliable, high-performance AI compute at scale.
This opportunity is an onsite role, based in our new engineering lab in Austin, TX supporting state of the art AI Data Center Systems (Servers & GPUs).
THE PERSON
You bring successful previous hands-on experience and skills working with hardware, PCBs and discrete components, work experience in lab or data center ESD environments and the ability to troubleshoot complex server electronics, discrete components, circuits and GPU issues under tight schedules.
You are highly motivated and have an ability to work independently while supporting fast-paced engineering teams. You are also known for your strong attention to detail and documentation discipline.
Your excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills have helped you build a track record of working collaboratively and efficiently with engineers, technicians, and operations staff at all levels. And most importantly, you have a consistently safety-focused mindset when working around high power and cooling systems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Install and maintain PCBs including rework and replacement soldering of discrete hardware components, circuit testing and more for AI servers, GPU platforms, and related infrastructure
  • Perform bring-up and debug of server hardware components, PCBs, GPUs, and interconnects
  • Execute hardware modifications, including:
    • Cable routing and management (power, networking, high-speed interconnects)
    • Installation of GPUs, NICs, memory, storage, and accelerators
    • Test point installation, probing, and signal measurements
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot:
    • Power, thermal, and cooling issues
    • Failures, GPU detection issues, and PCIe errors
    • Hardware faults such as shorts, damaged PCBs, or marginal components
  • Support failure analysis and root-cause investigations
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams (hardware, systems, facilities, IT, safety)
  • Maintain accurate documentation of configurations, changes, and test results
  • Support lab and data center operations, including rack builds, rework, and audits

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Hands-on experience with server hardware and PCBs including removal, repair and replacement soldering of discrete components for data center systems and GPU or accelerator-based platforms
  • Strong understanding of power delivery, cooling, and airflow in high-density systems, and, PCIe and high-speed interconnects
  • Hands on work experience using lab tools such as DMMs, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers
  • Comfortable working in ESD-controlled lab and data center environments
  • Ability to lift and rack servers (with assistance as required)
  • Experience with:
    • Liquid-cooled or hybrid-cooled server systems
    • High-power GPU racks (multi-kW per rack)
  • Knowledge and experience in fundamentals of electronics, circuitry,
  • Prior work in hyperscale data centers, engineering labs, or NPI environments; Experience supporting AI platforms in the semiconductor industry
  • Experience reading and understanding schematics, BOMs, and hardware debug documentation

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS
  • Associate degree or trade education certification in Electronics, Computer Engineering or related field
  • Electronics theory and design coursework
  • Related certifications are highly desirable
