ย PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:ย
Theย Donation Associate is responsible forย demonstratingย great customer service,ย receivingย incoming donations,ย andย sortingย donations byย identifyingย quality goods versus trash or unsellable goods.ย Successfulย Donations Associatesย operateย quickly andย efficientlyย inย demanding andย fast-pacedย environments.ย Donationย Associatesย are required toย maintainย a clean and organized donation area, follow all safety standards, andย properly track the movement of donated goods.ย Performing all donation tasks consistentlyย helps set up all other aspects ofย the business for success.ย ย ย
Donation Associate โ LEVELย 1ย isย requiredย to use manual machinery such as manual pallet jacks, dollies, and hand trucks. Level 1ย does notย operateย anyย electronic orย heavy machineryย such as balers, compactors, or forklifts/electric pallet jacks.ย ย

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:ย
Customerย Serviceย
- Greetย allย donorsย inย a friendly and professional manner.ย
- Provide a positive donation experience even during busy times.ย
- Follow donation guidelines.ย Reviewย donated goods forย poor quality, damage,ย and/or restrictionsย andย have the abilityย toย turn away and explain whyย we cannot acceptย certain itemsย in a way that is consistent withย CommunityAidโsย core behaviors.ย
- Patiently and courteously answerย basic donation questionsย while keeping donation flow moving.ย
- Perform basic partner donation tracking on an electronic tablet.ย
Organizingย and Trackingย Donationsย
- Quickly and accurately sort incoming donationsย by department.ย
- Identifyย items for trash or unsellable before they are sent to production or back stock.ย
- Prevent any bottlenecks or congestion at the donation door. Keepingย incomingย donation carts, bins, orย large itemsย organizedย for safety.ย
- Keep andย maintainย a clean environmentย byย managingย trashย appropriatelyย and organizing or breaking down cardboard.ย
- Accurately trackย productย thatย isย moving from donation door to production, sorting stations, or backstockย with an electronic tablet.ย
Productionย
- Assistย with production needs such as disinfection and pricing of furniture,ย assistingย with clothing production dumping, as well asย abilityย to learn other production areas for sorting.ย ย
Safetyย
- Emphasize safety and organization in high demand environments.ย
- Required to learn and use proper safety equipment during everyday tasks (puncture resistance gloves and safety blades)ย
- Ability to use manual pallet jacks, hand trucks, andย dollies.ย
- For the purpose ofย safety and awareness, learn and understandย theย basic safety requirementsย forย heavyย machinesย locatedย at the donation doorย and warehouse.ย This includesย forklifts,ย baler, electric pallet jacks, walking stackers, andย compactors.ย (These machinesย require further training and certificationย before an employeeย is authorized toย use themย and are not a requirement of the Donation Door Associate โ Level 1ย job.)ย
- Learn and understand all safety requirements for disinfection (Sterifab) and PPE requirements.ย

QUALIFICATIONS:ย
- High School diploma or equivalent preferredย
