  • The Director, Technical Operations and Airport Analytics is responsible for leading teams supporting the Operations Planning and Performance (OPP), Tech Ops, Airport and Customer Ops, and IOC business units as a primary resource for planning, analytics, and decision support tools. This position will lead a team of Advanced Analytics professionals and provide technical and managerial direction for the development of decision support and simulation models, custom statistical analysis models, and forecasting and business intelligence systems. This position will be instrumental in maintaining a strong and collaborative partnership with other analytics, data, and development organizations within American.

  • Lead the Tech Ops and Airport and Customer Ops analytics teams
  • Support the Tech Ops planning and routing, Control Centers, Airport Ops, IOC, and OPP organizations through advanced analytics, strategic planning, vendor evaluations, decision support systems, simulation analyses, and solution implementation and adoption
  • Provide directional leadership and vision for next generation operations and decision support tools
  • Actively seek out opportunities improve operational performance across the system through better tools and advanced analytics
  • Incorporate next generation forecasting and prediction methodology that leverages advanced analytical techniques, incorporates high-fidelity simulation, and includes optimal data modeling
  • Collaborate with Airports team to improve operational performance for our customers through improving baggage handling and customer connections
  • Support the Tech Ops organization by building tools that can optimize workload distribution and improve throughput
  • Develop and evaluate new ideas and approaches for solving business and technical problems across different business areas
  • Effectively work in partnership with the other analytics, data, and development teams within American

All you'll need for success
Minimum Qualifications - Education & Prior Job Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Operations Research/Industrial Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training. Advanced Degree preferred.
  • 7 years of leadership experience, overseeing large cross-functional teams
  • 7 years of relevant technical and business work experience
