US Audience & Marketing Director

Beggars Group

Manhattan, NY • On-site

$80K - $100K/yr

Full-time

Posted 11 days ago

Job description

About Beggars Group:
Beggars Group is a leading independent record company and home to labels including 4AD, Matador, Rough Trade Records, XL Recordings, and Young, music publisher Beggars Music, and the catalogue imprint Beggars Banquet Records. Based in London with US headquarters in New York City, The Beggars Group also has an office in Los Angeles, CA and a Matador office in Austin, TX.
Position Summary:
Beggars Group is expanding its Marketing Department in the US. As US Audience & Marketing Director, you will run the audience arm of the Marketing department. This requires you to work directly with labels, artists, and artist teams to drive digital strategy and know everything about their fanbase as it grows. This role reports into the Global Head of Marketing and is the Line Manager for the Audience & Marketing Coordinator as well as the Social Content Producer. This job spec is not intended to be definitive and may be revised periodically to reflect the evolving needs of our campaigns.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Implementing digital strategy for the whole artist roster alongside the Global Head of Marketing
  • Knowledge of artist data and fan base of our artists to inform future campaign decisions
  • Working directly with artists and their management teams + those in the labels responsible for social media to help strategize key campaign moments and storytelling opportunities.
  • Working alongside the UK marketing team to establish content pillars and identity guidelines at the outset of a new campaign and include these in marketing decks.
  • Galvanizing communities around our artists via social media and understanding platforms such as discord, LAYLO, Openstage, Rivet, etc.
  • Nurturing direct relationships with creators and influencer accounts and organizing our database of potential collaborators.
  • Working with influencers & creators across our campaigns, utilizing your network of agencies and talent to execute best in class short form campaigns across TikTok, Meta Reels, YouTube Shorts, Snap and emerging platforms. In partnership with the Social Content Producer.
  • Considering data capture for direct-to-fan comms tools such as email CRM, SMS and various first party data touchpoints in partnership with the Head of Commercial Marketing & Operations
  • Generating audience profiles and where applicable, contacting external agencies to carry out audience reporting.
  • Organizing centralized insights workshop / writers' room to generate ideas from across the group.
  • Staying current with all the latest tech trends, maintain a network of developers and technically minded individuals to execute forward thinking innovative campaigns
  • Leading strategy on social marketing, including associated campaign accounts, clipping and edit campaigns, and emerging tools
  • Work collaboratively with the label and marketing team to lead or assist on offline marketing activations in the US.

Skills and Experience:
  • Significant experience working in audience development, digital marketing, or fan engagement within music or a closely connected cultural space; you understand how audiences discover, connect with, and champion artists today.
  • Deep knowledge of platform ecosystems (TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Discord, and what's next), with a clear instinct for what feels native vs. forced - and when to push beyond the obvious.
  • Strong relationship to data without being led by it; you know how to pull meaningful insights from audience and platform analytics and apply them in ways that feel human, not mechanical.
  • Experience shaping and executing campaigns around artists - from early positioning through key moments - with a focus on storytelling, longevity, and building real connection over short-term spikes.
  • A well-developed network across creators, tastemakers, and collaborators (formal and informal), and the judgment to know who makes sense for which artist and why.
  • Familiarity with direct-to-fan thinking - CRM, email/SMS, first-party data - and an understanding of how to build lasting audience relationships beyond platform dependency.
  • Comfortable working closely with artists, managers, and label teams; able to listen, translate ideas, and guide strategy without overpowering the creative.
  • Experience managing and developing a small team; clear, supportive, and accountable in your approach.

Beggars Group is committed to building an inclusive workplace that reflects the diversity of the artists and communities we serve. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and encourage anyone passionate about music and culture to apply.
