Overview

Venice Family Clinic is a leader in providing comprehensive, high-quality primary health care to people in need with compassion, dignity and respect. In November 2021, Venice Family Clinic merged with South Bay Family Health Care, uniting more than a century of experience helping patients regardless of their income or insurance status. The organization now has more than 500 staff who serve 45,000 people from the Santa Monica Mountains through the South Bay. The Associate Medical Director - Clinical Informatics is responsible for providing clinical leadership for health information technology at Venice Family Clinic (VFC) and provides clinical oversight of the implementation and maintenance of the electronic health record (EHR). They collaborate with the clinical, program, and administrative teams to identify new interfaces, evaluate existing programs, and determine which programs and clinical interventions best serve VFC\'s health information system. The Associate Medical Director of Clinical Informatics develops and implements training programs with the Clinicโ€™s EMR trainers to train all VFC staff medical providers on electronic health records and health information technology used for direct patient care. Clinical care accounts for a minimum of 60% of their work duties; administrative and management supervisory responsibilities account for the other 40%. The Associate Medical Director of Clinical Informatics functions independently on a daily basis and reports to the CMO.

The salary range is estimated by the University of California, Los Angeles. This range considers the factors used in compensation decisions. The target salary range for this position is 250,000-348,100 annual base salary.

Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership for health information technology and clinical oversight of the EHR at Venice Family Clinic.
  • Collaborate with clinical, program, and administrative teams to identify new interfaces, evaluate existing programs, and determine which programs and clinical interventions best serve the health information system.
  • Develop and implement training programs with EMR trainers to educate all VFC staff medical providers on electronic health records and health information technology used for direct patient care.
  • Balance workload with clinical care accounting for a minimum of 60% of duties and administrative/management supervision for 40%.
  • Operate independently on a daily basis and report to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO).
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • MD or DO Degree
  • Active, unrestricted CA medical license
  • Epic Builder Certification
  • Board Certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Med/Peds
  • Five to ten years of experience as a primary care physician
  • Minimum of five years in a leadership position in a primary care setting; FQHC and community clinics preferred
  • Knowledgeable in Health Informatics and prior experience using EPIC, data systems, and EHR for management, reporting, and quality management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience serving underserved populations (volunteer, staff member, or faculty)
  • Ability to speak and communicate in verbal/written Spanish
  • Knowledge of medical problems in minority, medically underserved populations, and the homeless
