Practicum Placement (Grades K -12)
EVSC is excited to offer a clinical psychology practicum placement which includes a supervised,
hands-on training experience where graduate students apply their theoretical knowledge to real-
world settings by working directly with EVSC students under the guidance of a licensed clinical
psychologist, gaining practical skills in assessment, intervention, and case management, while
building foundational competencies for future professional practice as a clinical psychologist;
essentially bridging the gap between classroom learning and professional practice with intensive
supervision and feedback. Students will learn to collaborate with a team of professionals to
support client success.
Direct client contact:
Students will conduct intake interviews, administer psychological assessments, provide
individual and group therapy, and develop treatment plans for clients with diverse mental
health needs under close supervision. Students will also conduct classroom observations
and provide feedback to school teams. Client ages will typically range from 5 years to 18
years.
Supervised practice:
A licensed psychologist acts as a site supervisor, providing ongoing feedback, guidance,
and mentorship throughout the practicum experience.
Caseload management:
Students will be assigned a caseload of clients, learning to manage their schedules,
documentation, and ethical considerations related to client care.
Skill development:
Focus on developing skills in areas like clinical interviewing, psychological assessment,
diagnosis, treatment planning, intervention delivery, crisis management, and professional
communication.
Ethical considerations:
Students will be expected to adhere to the ethical guidelines set by the American
Psychological Association (APA) in all interactions with clients.
Reflection and evaluation:
Regular supervision sessions will include discussion of case presentations, self-reflection
on clinical skills, and evaluation of progress towards competency development.
