Job description

Radiance Technologies, a rapidly growing employee-owned company, is seeking a mid-level Laboratory Manager to establish, operate, and sustain a state-of-the-art research and development (R&D) laboratory focused on next-generation RF and radar technologies.

This is a unique opportunity to build an advanced laboratory capability from the ground up, supporting the design, modeling and simulation, algorithm development, waveform design, hardware prototyping, and software- and hardware-in-the-loop testing of innovative radar systems.

As part of a highly collaborative team, you will contribute to the development of cutting-edge Department of Defense technologies, including distributed aperture systems and novel radar architectures that push beyond conventional design approaches. You will work alongside experienced engineers and scientists while helping shape the future of advanced sensing capabilities.

Radiance Technologies is proud to be a 100% employee-owned company, offering exceptional benefits, a generous 401(k) and profit-sharing program, comprehensive health coverage, educational assistance, competitive compensation, and a culture that invests in the long-term success of its employee-owners.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to define, develop, and implement laboratory capabilities supporting advanced RF and radar technology research and development.
  • Design, establish, and maintain laboratory infrastructure, including RF test equipment, hardware, software, networking, and data management systems.
  • Validate laboratory capabilities and ensure safe, secure, and efficient laboratory operations in accordance with applicable policies and best practices.
  • Establish and maintain required regulatory compliance, laboratory certifications, licenses, and operational procedures necessary to support RF and radar technology development.
  • Translate research and technology development objectives into practical laboratory architecture, test environments, and engineering solutions.
  • Serve as the laboratory system administrator, managing computing resources, software tools, data storage, configuration management, and user access.
  • Develop and execute laboratory test plans to support hardware integration, software development, algorithm validation, and system performance characterization.
  • Support end-to-end technology development activities, including modeling and simulation, hardware prototyping, software- and hardware-in-the-loop testing, and system integration.
  • Coordinate laboratory equipment procurement, inventory management, maintenance, and calibration to ensure mission readiness.
  • Document laboratory processes, configurations, and test results, and provide technical recommendations to engineering and program leadership.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Two (2) to five (5) years of professional experience supporting laboratory operations, systems administration, software development, RF/radar engineering, or related research and development activities.
  • Experience administering Windows and/or Linux systems, laboratory networks, or engineering computing environments.
  • Familiarity with laboratory test equipment, hardware integration, and software configuration management.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to support multiple engineering efforts in a collaborative environment.
  • Active Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI clearance.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience developing and maintaining web-based applications and laboratory management tools using technologies such as SQL, PHP, HTML, CSS, Apache, or similar frameworks.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and administering custom databases for laboratory test, measurement, and data collection systems.
  • Familiarity with laboratory automation, data acquisition, and engineering data management.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to document technical processes and present findings to engineering and program leadership.

Highly Desired Qualifications

  • Candidates with one or more of the following qualifications will receive strong consideration:
  • Experience with laboratory configuration management, asset accountability, inventory control, purchasing, and shipping/receiving processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and successfully execute tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, mission-focused research and development environment while collaborating effectively with senior technical staff.
