General Studies Adjunct- English Description

Under the direction of the General Studies Department Chair, the Adjunct Instructor of English will provide on-campus instruction for General Studies courses including: English Composition and English Composition w/Research. Instructors update course syllabi, develop lesson plans, develop presentation materials, communicate with faculty lead on subject matter, and evaluate student's progress.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop instructional materials to facilitate student learning outcomes for the course.
  • Collect all assessment data related to student learning outcomes.
  • Maintain an equitable system of student evaluation based on sound practices in accordance with the course syllabus.
  • Return all graded assignments in a reasonable time frame according to South College Faculty Expectations.
  • Project an appropriate professional image.
  • Enforce all South College rules and policies.

Requirements

Education

  • Minimum of a master's degree in relevant English field (Doctorate preferred)

Experience

  • Prior teaching experience preferred in an in-person environment
  • Proficient in the written and oral communication of the English language
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
