About the job:

The Manager, Laboratory Operations is responsible for planning, organizing, staffing, directing and monitoring the operations of their assigned department(s) within the MCHS laboratory structure along with all assigned duties across the MCHS.  Works in collaboration with other MCHS management and the Pathologist(s) to identify, implement and achieve strategic and operational objectives of MCHS.

  • Clinical Laboratory Manager: Oversees a minimum of one hospital site including additional point of care duties for associated Off Site Emergency Department(s) and/or small hospital(s) laboratories.
  • Blood Bank / Point of Care Sytem Manager - Oversees the blood bank and point of care activities for the entire Mount Carmel System.
  • Microbiology Manager - Oversees the microbiology department, microbiology testing at all hospital sites, interactions with both Infectious Disease physicians and Infection Control.
  • Pathology Manager - Oversees the histology/cytology departments including centralized grossing.  Oversees the pathology functions at all hospitals and off site ED's to include accessioning, send outs, and specimen routing.

*This position will manager the Lab at Mount Carmel East.

What we are looking for:

* B.S. or B.A. degree, masters degree preferred 

* Clinical Laboratory:  MLS, CLS, MT (ASCP) or equivalent, Microbiology: MLS, CLS, MT (ASCP), SM or equivalent, Pathology:  HLT or equivalent.

* At  least three years of diversified, practical experience in all areas of medical laboratory.  Five years recent medical laboratory operations management experience preferred.

* Demonstrated leadership qualities including human relations skills, financial management abilities, decision-making abilities and problem-solving skills.
