Scope of Position
The James West Campus Laboratory provides comprehensive, time sensitive laboratory services to patients with a variety of diagnoses or admission/discharge criteria. The James West Campus Laboratory staff performs testing on patient specimens utilizing chemistry, immunochemistry, hematology, urinalysis, coagulation and assists with bone marrow procedures. The James West Campus Laboratory provides training for residents, new staff and medical technology students. The James laboratory is staffed 24 hours 7 days a week.
Position Summary
The medical laboratory technologists' performs routine automated and manual procedures, verifies and reports test requests and results. Handles phone inquires regarding patient results, specimen collection and testing frequency. Oncology staff uses the laboratory computer system to review report and call critical values to various healthcare professionals. The James West Campus Laboratory staff performs and documents quality control, quality assurance and preventative maintenance on instrumentation. Medical laboratory technologists work under the direction of the lab manager and lead technologist(s).
Minimum Qualifications
For Hire: Bachelor's degree in a clinical or medical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution OR Associate degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology AND Bachelor's degree in a chemical or biological science. 0 years of relevant experience required. ASCP certification required within 1 year of hire.
