Associate Director, Business Development

Position Summary:

The Associate Director, Business Development is responsible for the cultivation, expansion, and management of strategic broker partnerships to drive revenue growth within the medical professional liability market. This role provides strategic oversight of the broker channel, utilizing a consultative approach to maximize market share and drive long-term profitability.

Key Functions:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Cultivate and lead long-term, productive relationships with assigned broker partners, serving as the primary point of contact and driving an exceptional partner experience.
  • Execute strategic growth plans to identify and pursue new business opportunities, ensuring all initiatives align with underwriting appetite and organizational goals.
  • Facilitate regular pipeline reviews and planning sessions with brokers to uncover growth opportunities and maintain a robust flow of new business.
  • Identify, assess, and onboard new broker partners, coordinating contracts and cross-functional introductions to ensure strategic alignment from day one.
  • Deliver comprehensive training and education to the broker force regarding underwriting guidelines, risk-selection philosophy, and the company's value proposition.
  • Serve as a market intelligence hub by sharing competitive insights, partner feedback, and emerging trends with internal underwriting and leadership teams.
  • Collaborate closely with Underwriting, Risk, and Claims departments to ensure a unified approach to market strategy and joint relationship development.
  • Partner with Marketing to refine messaging and ensure brokers are equipped with up-to-date tools, materials, and support resources.
  • Manage and maintain accurate CRM records and activity tracking to support data-driven decision-making and internal reporting needs.
  • Drive solutions-focused support for broker partners, proactively resolving issues to strengthen market presence and brand loyalty.

Requirements / Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in Medical Professional Liability (MPL), specifically focused on broker relationship management and market development.
  • A 4-year college degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven track record in business development, underwriting, or insurance brokerage; experience within the MPL or healthcare liability sector is highly preferred.
  • Possession of an active P&C Producer license, or the ability to successfully obtain licensure within 60 days of hire.
  • Exceptional relationship-building, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong business intelligence and the ability to leverage data-driven metrics to inform and execute growth strategies.
  • Highly organized and collaborative professional with a deep commitment to delivering an exceptional partner's experience.
  • Ability and willingness to travel 2540% for broker visits, territory management, and industry-specific events.

The salary range for this position is $118,300 to $188,600. Starting salary is determined by several factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This position is also eligible for an annual company bonus at an incentive target level of 12%.
