Job description

Location: Indianapolis, IN Salary: $60,000.00 USD Annually - $70,000.00 USD Annually Description:
Role Overview: The Desktop Deployment Technician is a vital member of the IT Operations team, responsible for ensuring the organization's hardware environment is modern, secure, and highly performant. This role balances technical execution-such as imaging and hardware configuration-with proactive project management and end-user support. You will bridge the gap between high-level network infrastructure and the daily technology needs of our workforce.
Key Responsibilities
1. Deployment & Systems Integration
  • Hardware Preparation: Image, configure, and test desktops and laptops for new hires and hardware refresh cycles.
  • OS & Software Management: Install and maintain Windows operating systems, the Microsoft Office suite, and enterprise-level security software.
  • Network Integration: Collaborate with Infrastructure teams to ensure all endpoints are properly joined to the domain and integrated into the network.

2. Maintenance & Optimization
  • Lifecycle Management: Execute hardware upgrades, firmware updates, and critical security patches.
  • Automation: Develop and implement scripting or automation tools to reduce manual deployment tasks and increase department efficiency.
  • Documentation: Create and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and technical guidelines for the deployment lifecycle.

3. Technical Support & Troubleshooting
  • Issue Resolution: Act as a tier-2 escalation point for hardware and software malfunctions, diagnosing root causes and implementing long-term fixes.
  • Stakeholder Support: Provide clear, timely communication to end-users during deployments to minimize downtime and ensure a smooth transition.
Required Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field (preferred) or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years in desktop deployment, hardware/software installation, and enterprise-level configuration.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Expert knowledge of Windows OS and Microsoft 365 environments.
    • Proficiency in troubleshooting PC hardware components and peripherals.
    • Familiarity with anti-virus and endpoint security management.
  • Soft Skills: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; excellent verbal and written communication.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Enterprise Tools: Direct experience with the Ivanti imaging platform or similar systems (SCCM, MDT, or Intune).
  • Scripting: Basic knowledge of PowerShell, Python, or Batch scripting for task automation.
  • Certification: CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate, or similar.
