Job description

Job Description:

Reporting to the Information Security Manager, the System Administrator is responsible for coordinating all operational aspects for applications assigned as the primary system administrator and providing backup support for additional systems as needed.  Serves as the gatekeeper for any changes, enhancements or modifications to assigned applications.

Performs day-to-day analytical and technical tasks, including monitoring application logs, responding to alerts, refreshing test environments, scheduling planned downtimes, and coordinating release and patch upgrades. Maintains an understanding of the overall technical components required by assigned applications.  Works closely with IT Directors, Analysts, and Technical teams to provide Tier 3 support for Powers Health applications.  Functions as a liaison between Technical Services team and functional end users.  Coordinates system implementation activities including installations, upgrades and testing. 

Position is hybrid.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience within IT or IT related areas with a focus on vendor-built products and application support.
  • Strong functional and technical background with state-of-the-art Hospital Information Systems and workflow processes preferred.
  • Strong functional and technical background with TCP/IP networks, Cybersecurity Controls, Perimeter Controls, and workflow processes highly preferred.
  • Experience with information security tools such as packet capturing utilities, log analysis engines, and anti-malware and AV products required.
  • Working knowledge of Windows desktop and server operating systems.
  • Working knowledge of enterprise software and equipment such as Active Directory, Citrix, LDAP, virtualization, etc.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and critical thinking skills required. Demonstrated customer service methodology and accountability in order to communicate effectively and professionally with medical staff, hospital department heads, professional and technical personnel.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and projects is required.
  • Must be detailed oriented, and quality conscious.
  • Knowledge of programming and database structure preferred.
  • Information Security certifications such as the CompTIA Security+ or CompTIA Security Analyst (CySA+) is required or must be obtained within 3 years of acceptance of position.
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently. Works under minimal supervision, exercises experience to plan and accomplish assigned tasks and goals.
