Job Description
HII - Mission Technologies has an opportunity avialable for an entry level Systems Engineer to join our Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) team in Crane, Indiana. This role is ideal for recent graduates interested in applying their knowledge of unmanned aircraft systems, robotics, or autonomous technologies. As a Systems Engineer I, you will support technical projects, participate in system testing, and collaborate with experienced engineers while developing professional engineering skills.
This position will work onsite in Crane, IN.
Essential Job Responsibilities
  • Support engineering activities related to UAS development, integration, testing, and evaluation.
  • Assist with technical data collection, organization, and analysis.
  • Participate in system level testing, troubleshooting, and documentation efforts.
  • Work with senior engineers to contribute to design improvements and project execution.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and updates for internal stakeholders.
  • Follow established engineering processes, standards, and safety requirements.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 0 - 1 year of experience with a bachelor's or master's degree in systems engineering or aerospace engineering.
  • Foundational knowledge of UAS platforms, sensors, avionics, autonomy, or related technologies.
  • Experience through internships, co-ops, senior design projects, or hands-on work involving UAS, robotics, flight systems, or autonomous technologies.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment.
  • Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain secret security clearance.

Preferred Requirements
  • Experience with modeling, simulation, or test instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with MATLAB, Python, C++, or similar engineering tools.
  • Exposure to DoD environments, test ranges, or technical operations (preferred but not required).

Physical Requirements
  • Office and/or industrial environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving materials may be required.
