We are seeking an experienced Automotive Detail Team Lead who is passionate about automotive detailing and has the leadership skills to motivate a team while ensuring every vehicle meets our quality standards.


Position Summary

The Automotive Detail Team Lead is responsible for leading the daily operations of an automotive detailing team while actively participating in the detailing process. This is a working leadership position that requires extensive hands-on detailing knowledge combined with strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

The Team Lead is responsible for maintaining quality standards, improving productivity, training and coaching employees, building strong customer relationships, and ensuring a safe, efficient work environment.

Success in this role is measured by consistently delivering exceptional quality, maximizing team productivity, maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction, developing team members, and ensuring dealership and company standards are met every day.


Essential ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership
  • Lead, coach, and motivate a team of Detail Technicians.
  • Provide hands-on training and ongoing development for new and existing employees.
  • Set the standard for quality, productivity, professionalism, and customer service.
  • Assign daily work and monitor workflow to maximize efficiency.
  • Assist team members when workloads increase or staffing shortages occur.
  • Provide coaching, corrective feedback, and communicate performance concerns to management.
  • Help create a positive, respectful, and accountable team culture.

Vehicle Detailing
  • Perform professional interior and exterior vehicle detailing.
  • Wash, clay, buff, polish, wax, and protect vehicle finishes.
  • Perform paint correction when required.
  • Clean and condition interiors including carpets, upholstery, leather, plastics, glass, and trim.
  • Photograph vehicles after receiving company training.
  • Move vehicles safely throughout dealership property.
  • Maintain dealership presentation standards on every vehicle.

Quality Control
  • Inspect every completed vehicle before delivery.
  • Ensure dealership and company quality standards are consistently met.
  • Monitor production goals, turnaround times, and team efficiency.
  • Correct quality concerns immediately.
  • Maintain excellent relationships with dealership personnel.

Operations
  • Coordinate daily production with dealership management.
  • Maintain inventory of detailing supplies and equipment.
  • Ensure equipment is properly maintained and report repair needs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and daily operational records.
  • Assist with scheduling and staffing needs as directed.

Safety amp; Compliance
  • Promote and enforce all company safety policies.
  • Ensure proper handling of chemicals and detailing equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Report accidents, injuries, property damage, and safety concerns immediately.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company policies.
  • Protect company assets including vehicles, keys, tools, and equipment.

QualificationsRequired
  • Minimum 3 years of professional automotive detailing experience
  • Strong knowledge of professional detailing techniques, products, and equipment
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends
  • Ability to drive both automatic and manual transmission vehicles (preferred)
Preferred
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience
  • Dealership detailing experience
  • Experience training and mentoring employees
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Computer proficiency for basic reporting and communication

Physical Requirements

This position requires:

  • Standing and walking for extended periods
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, squatting, reaching, and climbing
  • Regular lifting of up to 75 pounds
  • Working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals, noise, and moving vehicles
  • Ability to safely operate detailing equipment and tools
