Law Enforcement Training Specialist
Job Description
Provides administrative support and program management for Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET), Detention Officer Certification Course (DOCC), Telecommunications Certification Course (TCC), Speed Measurement Instruments (SMI) and General Instructor (GI); additionally, associated law enforcement training programs through Continuing Education (CE). Administers the Datatel course administration process and provides Datatel support for Academic Programs and Continuing Education.
Essential Duties Summary
  1. Follow Continuing Education and Academic Programs workflow processes to ensure program integrity and accountability in accordance with NCCCS and state regulatory agency requirements.
  2. Administrative management of five NC commissioned courses; BLET, DOCC TCC, SMI, and GI. Additionally, continuing education justice officer in-service training and contracted guest speaker classes.
  3. Provide administrative support including data entry, database management, and use of Datatel/Colleague, FundFive on-line enrollment system and entering and scanning ACADIS for BLET, DOCC TCC, SMI, and GI data collection.
  4. Assist the Law Enforcement Training Coordinator with the BLET and Continuing Education student registration process and the Datatel/Colleague course administration process.
  5. Build courses, prepare instructor contracts and class packets. register students, process and complete payroll, grade and close classes, as well as audit all files before sent to continuing education dept.
  6. Monitor and manage student calls, emails and website inquiries for BLET enrollment process.
  7. Enrollment process managed and tracked on an excel spreadsheet to ensure all steps are completed prior to interviewing for a seat in the BLET class.
  8. Cultivate a strong partnership with student affairs personnel for CASAS testing, HS transcript submissions and new student orientation to ensure completion of the college requirements prior to acceptance in BLET.
  9. Collect student registration fees, invoice industries and local agencies for registration fees, and provide appropriate documentation to the Business Office.
  10. Compile class rosters, create class registration packets, pull required class information, and provide instructor packets.
  11. Assist with all required reports, including internal and external audits.
  12. Maintain accurate and appropriate course, student and part-time instructor records.
  13. Collect and process course/instructor evaluation forms at the end of each class.
  14. Create class visit sheets and maintain appropriate records to document class visitations each semester.
  15. Provide student certificates for all commissioned classes, as well as on-site training programs.
  16. Attend professional development training in person, via teams or webinars.
  17. Actively participate in scheduling meetings and attend required Convocation every semester.
  18. Attend and scribe for Criminal Justice Advisory Committee meetings with our law enforcement community partners.
  19. Assist with College events as needed; Graduation, Career Day, Fire College, Fall Festival, Yetiville.
  20. Implement a process for instructor polo shirt design, ordering and selection for efficient delivery.
  21. Maintain and order an appropriate level of office supplies.
  22. Serve on various committees within the College.

Salary Range
Based on Experience, Starting Salary Ranges $ 34,320 to $51,480

  • Required: Associate degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Office Administration, or related field from a regionally accredited institution.

ADA requirements for this position include critical thinking skills with the ability to process information, analyze data, make assessments, and exercise good judgment to make decisions; possess ease of mobility within the work environment and other areas of campus; and effective use of all forms of communication (oral, visual, auditory), including use of computers. Be able to lift weights up to 10 pounds on a regular basis.
