Commission Theatre Engineering Jobs (NOW HIRING)

Children’s Theatre Company (CTC) is seeking qualified candidates with a background in running lighting consoles, moving light programming and lighting software for the position of Light Board Programmer/Operator.  This is a seasonal benefits eligible position that is guaranteed at least 40 weeks of full-time work each season and is part of a collective bargaining agreement with IATSE Local 13, AFL-CIO.  This position requires someone who is knowledgeable about lighting console programming, theatrical lighting instruments and dimmers, interpreting lighting plots and who has the ability to positively contribute to an anti-racist/anti-bias organization.  Applicants for this role should have creative problem-solving skills, analytical abilities, and strong interpersonal skills.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Lighting Board Programmer/Operator programs and operates the lighting console for productions on the UnitedHealth Group Stage and Cargill Stage. The person in this position is also responsible for maintaining the lighting equipment and design throughout the run of the show. This position is covered by a CBA with I.A.T.S.E. Local #13.

This position reports to the Lighting and Video Director.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Lighting Programming and Maintenance

• Responsible for programming the lighting console for UnitedHealth Group Stage and Cargill Stage productions and events; also responsible for running shows as the schedule allows
• Must be able to work closely with the lighting designer to assist with the realization of the lighting design
• Responsible for maintaining the lighting equipment used in each production (i.e. daily lamp and focus check)
• Act as one of the staff electricians during load-ins, focus, changeovers and strikes
• Occasionally act as supervisor during changeovers and strikes

Collaborate with all staff in the furtherance of CTC’s goal of being an anti-racist/anti-bias theatre that works towards Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

• Encourage and empower everyone to speak out against racist and/or biased workplace practices and policies
• Study topics that lead to a deeper understanding of how white supremacy, racial violence, and systemic racism have shaped American society and how that shapes CTC’s workplace and the lives of CTC employees
• Positively contribute to the ACT One platform, creating a future where our theatre is a home for all people, all families, reflective of our community

    Experience

• Demonstrated ability on ETC EOS family lighting consoles or similar computerized lighting consoles
• Demonstrated ability in moving light programming
• Must be able to interpret Lighting Plots and Architectural Drawings 
• Basic knowledge of Vectorworks and Lightwright software preferred 
• Intermediate knowledge of Windows and Mac operating systems
• Must have demonstrated working knowledge of the following: theatrical lighting instruments and dimmers, small power tools, counter-weight fly systems
• Knowledge of safety best practices, fall protection; OSHA 10 or 30 preferred
• Good knowledge of NEC codes for the Theater, basic electrical wiring, basic electronics
• Intermediate knowledge of Ethernet protocols, networking, and data distribution
• Must be comfortable working in high places

The minimum starting wage for this position is $25.75 per hour.  Benefits include medical, dental and vision insurance; short-term and long-term disability and life insurance; vacation and sick leave; nine paid holidays; and a 403(b)-retirement savings plan.
