How much do full time aquaponics jobs pay per hour?
What is the difference between Full Time Aquaponics vs Full Time Hydroponics?
| Aspect | Full Time Aquaponics | Full Time Hydroponics |
|---|---|---|
| Credentials | Basic agricultural knowledge, certifications vary | Similar certifications, often including horticulture or agricultural tech |
| Work Environment | Integrated fish and plant systems, often on farms or research facilities | Soilless plant cultivation setups, greenhouses or indoor farms |
| Industry Usage | Used in sustainable farming, research, and education | Common in commercial farming, research, and urban agriculture |
Full Time Aquaponics involves managing systems that combine fish farming with plant cultivation, emphasizing sustainability. Full Time Hydroponics focuses solely on soil-less plant growing systems. While both roles require knowledge of plant science and system management, aquaponics additionally involves fish care and water chemistry, making it distinct in scope and environment.

Under guidance from the CSU project directors, the participant will help in designing and conducting all aspects of the experiments from laboratory to growth chambers, greenhouse, aquaponics, and fields trials. The participant will learn methods to reduce bacterial pathogen loads contamination, integrated data collection and analysis, and novel methods to isolate and maintain microbial cells and nucleic acids. This is an integrated produce safety research project, and the participant will have opportunities to learn and participate in our food safety extensions programs.
