Cook HelperPosition Summary

The Cook Helper assists the Cook with the preparation, cooking, serving, and cleanup of meals for employees working at a remote construction camp in Alaska. This position helps maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen and dining area while supporting the food service operation and ensuring meals are prepared and served in a timely manner.

Essential Job Functions
  • Assist the Cook with daily meal preparation, including washing, peeling, cutting, measuring, and preparing ingredients.
  • Assist with preparing breakfast, lunch, dinner, and other meals or snacks as directed.
  • Help set up and maintain food service and dining areas.
  • Prepare beverages, salads, side dishes, desserts, and other items as assigned.
  • Assist with serving meals and maintaining adequate food supplies during meal periods.
  • Wash dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
  • Clean and sanitize food preparation areas, counters, floors, equipment, and dining areas.
  • Properly store food, supplies, and equipment in accordance with food safety requirements.
  • Assist with receiving, unloading, inspecting, and properly storing food and kitchen supplies.
  • Monitor food and supply levels and notify the Cook when items need to be replenished.
  • Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and personal hygiene practices.
  • Follow established safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Assist with inventory and organization of kitchen and food storage areas.
  • Properly handle and dispose of food waste and garbage.
  • Assist with maintaining kitchen equipment and reporting damaged or malfunctioning equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Cook or Site Supervisor.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience in a commercial kitchen, restaurant, cafeteria, camp, or institutional food service environment preferred.
  • Experience working in a remote or construction camp environment is a plus.
  • Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and established food safety procedures.
  • Must be able to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen operations.

Work Environment

Safety and Compliance

The Cook Helper is expected to follow all company, project, food safety, sanitation, and health and safety policies and procedures. Salary

$28.23/hour plus fringe pay
