Division/Status: Full-time exempt, Management
Summary

City Market Co-Op is seeking an on-site Controller responsible for coordinating all finance functions in compliance with City Market policies: to prepare financial statements, create budgets, prepare and monitor internal controls, monitor all financial transactions, and has experience working independently with NetSuite software system. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this position manages the day-to-day activity of three direct reports within the Finance team. As a member of the All Leadership Team (ALT), this position works closely with other Managers to ensure consistency of financial policy and procedures.


Day-to-Day Duties

  • Prepare timely and accurate financial statements for review by the Director of Finance.
  • Maintain documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that all monthly, quarterly and annual taxes are prepared and paid within terms.
  • Coordinate the annual ERISA and Financial audits with guidance from the Director of Finance.
  • Oversee the work of the Finance Team.
  • Efficiently track hours worked, benefit accruals and ensure proper payment to employees.
  • Develop and maintain robust internal control procedures in a multi-store format.
  • Ensure  accurate and timely payment of all producers, farmers and distributors via PO, A/P & other processes.
  • Select,  develop, supervise and evaluate the performance of direct reports. 
  • Be a management role model and assist team members in their supervisory responsibilities, which may include but not limited to: hiring, coaching, development, performance evaluation, and corrective action for department employees, as needed. 
  • Create sustainable and forward-thinking departmental business plans and goals.
  • Develop and maintain favorable relationships with staff, members, customers, vendors and other stakeholders. 
  • Have an understanding of and compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Ensure compliance with established City Market financial policies in compliance with GAAP.
  • Support City Market's Global Ends, Values, Co-op Principles and Diversity Statement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting, or equivalent business experience.
  • Strong knowledge of NetSuite, Office Suite 365, with an emphasis on MS Excel, Point of Sale, and Paylocity HRIS preferred. 
  • Minimum of five years' experience developing & implementing budgets and adhering to labor cost requirements.
  • Minimum of five years management experience including but not limited to hiring, training, evaluating, coaching, and developing staff.
  • Experience working in a union environment preferred.
  • The ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and discretion is required.
