Job Title: Assistant Controller

FLSA Status: Exempt

Reports to: CFO/Controller

Department: Accounting

Salary Range: $80K - $100K

Job Summary:

As the Assistant Controller at Midway Oil Corp., you will play a fundamental role in overseeing accounting and financial operations for Midway Oil Corporation and Donuts of Rutland, Inc. Under direction of our CFO, the assistant controller will be responsible for accounting operations, including preparing reports, handling reconciliations, month-end processes, while ensuring compliant, accurate and timely records. This is a full-time, on-site position based out of our Rutland, Vermont corporate headquarters.

Midway Oil Corp. owns and operates as two organizations, TenneyBrook and Donuts of Rutland DBA Dunkin.

Based in Vermont and NY, we have over 400 employees across our 16 convenience stores/gas stations, 4 car washes, 14 Dunkin' retail locations and our Dunkin production facility.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field required. CPA is a plus

· 5+ Years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role preferred

· Proficient in accounting software Sage Intaact, QuickBooks, helpful

· Working knowledge of Microsoft office and proficiency in Excel required

· Thorough understanding of GAAP

· Month-end close and account reconciliation experience, required

· Sales & Use Tax experience, required

· Excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills

· Strong written and verbal communication skills and proven leadership abilities

· Experience in multi-location or franchise environment a plus

Duties/Responsibilities:

· Oversee & coordinate accounting operations, which include functions such as accounts payable,

accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, payroll, cash management, General Ledger Activities

· Lead month-end and year-end close processes and prepare accurate financial statements

· Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.

· Ability to recognize and implement process improvements to enhance financial processes

· Carry out and coordinate special projects as assigned

· Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
