The Proofreader reviews and verifies English and/or Spanish voter guide content to ensure

accuracy, consistency, and quality before publication.


We're looking for someone who

● Has previous experience in proofreading, editing, or a related field

● Demonstrates exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy

● Has excellent reading and writing skills in English (bilingual English/Spanish preferred)

● Is proficient in grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style guidelines

● Is familiar with Adobe InDesign and can review and edit publication layouts (preferred)

● Can work independently while collaborating effectively with editorial and translation teams

● Is highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment

● Is comfortable reviewing translated content for consistency and accuracy

● Has familiarity with voter guide or election-related materials (preferred)

● Holds a bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field

(preferred)


What you'll do

● Proofread and compare voter guide content in English and/or Spanish to ensure accuracy

and consistency

● Correct grammatical, typographical, formatting, and compositional errors as needed

● Verify that published content matches the original approved version

● Collaborate with translation and editorial teams to resolve discrepancies and maintain

content quality

● Review and make text and layout corrections using Adobe InDesign

● Maintain a high level of accuracy while meeting strict production deadlines

● Provide feedback to improve proofreading, editing, and translation processes

● Perform other related duties as assigned
