Fahrenheit Advisors is assisting DA Everett Construction Group, an award-winning construction management and general contracting firm, in the search for a Commercial Construction Controller.
The Controller will lead and manage the accounting and financial operations supporting its Raleigh and Charlotte offices. The Controller will have a proven track record of success in a fast-paced, highly motivated environment, managing multiple deadlines while providing leadership and strategic financial guidance to the organization. This individual will ensure the integrity of financial reporting, maintain strong internal controls, and support operational teams in achieving company goals.

Job Duties/Responsibilities
The Controller is responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance functions for the company. This role serves as a key partner to executive leadership and project teams, ensuring financial processes support operational success and long-term growth.
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all accounting functions, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, job costing, payroll, and general ledger
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reporting Maintain and enforce internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets
  • Manage and mentor the accounting team, including Project Accountants and administrative staff
  • Partner with project management teams to ensure accurate job cost tracking, forecasting, and budget management
  • Oversee construction-specific accounting processes including WIP schedules, revenue recognition, subcontractor compliance, and billing processes
  • Review and approve financial transactions, including pay applications, invoices, and contract-related documentation
  • Lead cash flow management, forecasting, and banking relationships
  • Coordinate with external accountants for tax preparation, audits, and financial reviews
  • Ensure compliance with all financial, tax, and regulatory requirements
  • Support strategic planning, budgeting, and financial analysis for leadership decision-making
  • Continuously evaluate and improve accounting systems and processes (Sage 100, Procore)

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
  • Minimum 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role within the construction industry
  • Experience with construction accounting systems; Sage 100 and Procore required

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of construction accounting, including job costing, WIP reporting, and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition
  • Deep understanding of contracts, subcontractor agreements, insurance, and lien laws
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and team development skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
