Job description

VGM Forbin provides website development, digital marketing, and managed IT solutions for the healthcare, banking, retail automotive, and many other industries. We are seeking a detail-oriented individual majoring in English, Journalism, Marketing, or Communications with demonstrated writing experience to fill our open Content Development Intern position for the summer. This role currently offers part-time hours, but there is an opportunity for the role to offer full-time hours for the right candidate.

Position Summary: As an intern with the VGM Forbin you will gain valuable work experience in a professional environment, leveraging your prior experience, education, and involvement. Our interns play an essential role in the departments they are part of, working on important responsibilities, special projects, and networking with our teams. The Content Intern position is responsible for writing content including articles, blogs, social media posts and varied marketing pieces, as well as planning out blog calendars, and researching topics. In this position, you will gain the skills to create customized content for social media accounts & blogs, as well as for helping a business market themselves online through paid and organic means.

Reporting to: Blog/Specialty Content Strategist

Working Location: Employees whose primary residence is around a 30-mile radius of VGM Main Campus are expected to work onsite at least four days per week. Specifics will be under the leader's discretion and subject to manager approval and business needs.

Work Hours Classification: Part-time hours based on availability, with the opportunity for full-time hours for the right candidate


Key Responsibilities:


Success as an intern is evaluated by the quality and execution of tasks, teamwork and support provided to peers and the satisfaction of the clients.

Duties Include:

  • Provide support to create and/or edit website, blog, social media, email
  • Write content including articles, blogs, varied marketing pieces
  • Review and edit content as needed Research topics and keyboards for blogs
  • Plan out blog calendars and ideas
  • Assist the marketing team as needed (social media, email marketing, SEO, SEM)
  • Utilize content management system (CMS) to upload content to websites
  • Collaborate with functional teammates on all aspects of projects and technical needs
  • Maintain and track projects with mindfulness to priorities
  • Maintain a positive, results oriented work environment, building partnerships and modelling teamwork, communicating to others in an open, balanced and objective manner
  • Undertake other projects and duties as assigned

Key Qualifications

Education and experience:

  • Field of focus for the internship, particularly marketing, English, journalism, and content writing preferred but not required

Skills and competencies:

  • Effective interpersonal skills to communicate with organization staff and department managers to accomplish goals for productivity and organization wide quality of service.
  • Can work independently with little supervision
  • Ability to manage multiple writing assignments and deadlines with a strong attention to detail
  • Strong writing and editing skills

Physical requirements:

  • Operation of office equipment and using technology efficiently such as computers, phones, misc. office equipment
  • Visual abilities to include reading, distance vision and peripheral vision
  • Moving throughout the VGM facilities when needed.
