About Us
Albany State University is a fully accredited senior unit of the University System of Georgia. Our West Campus is located at 2400 Gillionville Road, Albany, GA 31707. Our East Campus is located at 504 College Drive, Albany, GA 31705. The Human Resources office for both campuses is located on the West Campus in Building K, Suite 209.
Job Summary
The Content Development Specialist is responsible for creating, managing, and optimizing high-quality content that supports Albany State University's brand, strategic initiatives, and communication goals. This position plays a critical role in storytelling, digital engagement, and promoting the university's programs, events, and achievements to internal and external audiences. The specialist collaborates with campus partners to develop compelling, accurate, and timely content across multiple platforms.
Responsibilities
Duties and Job Responsibilities
  • Develop, write, edit, and publish content for digital and print platforms, including the university website, social media, newsletters, press releases, and marketing materials.
  • Collaborate with departments across campus to gather information and produce engaging stories that highlight academic programs, student success, faculty research, and institutional initiatives.
  • Ensure all content aligns with Albany State University branding guidelines, voice, and messaging standards.
  • Manage and maintain editorial calendars to ensure consistent and timely content delivery.
  • Optimize content for digital platforms, including basic SEO practices and accessibility standards.
  • Assist with media relations efforts by drafting press releases, feature articles, and promotional materials.
  • Support marketing campaigns and strategic communication initiatives through content creation and coordination.
  • Monitor content performance and engagement metrics to inform content strategy and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain accuracy and consistency of information across communication channels.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Office of Marketing and Communications.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, English, Public Relations, or a closely related field.
  • Two (2) to three (3) years of professional experience in content development, writing, marketing, or communications.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, English, Public Relations, or a closely related field.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of professional experience in content development, writing, marketing, or communications.

Proposed Salary
Salary commensurate with education and experience.
