Job description

CONFERENCE SERVICES MANAGER

SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director of Sales & Marketing, this position is responsible for managing conferences and group events contracted through the sales department. The Conference Services Manager details and manages the overall conference functions, ensuring client satisfaction by successfully meeting conference goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Completes BEOs for all group banquet functions & meeting rooms.
  • Up-sells whenever possible through suggestive selling to the group leader.
  • Provides banquet menu information and package information to the guest.
  • Assist the banquet staff as required to meet our guests' needs.
  • Attends all special familiarization tours and special outings as requested by the Director of Sales.
  • Responsible for Food and Beverage forecast of events booked. Maintaining forecast accuracy as the event materializes
  • Proactively identifies operational challenges with the group and works with the hotel staff and customers to solve these challenges and/or develop alternative solutions.
  • Required to participate in the Sales office coverage as assigned.
  • Performs all other assigned duties to assist in efficient departmental operation.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 3-4 years previous experience in hotel/conference/hospitality industry
  • Previous experience in conferences and events is required
  • Knowledge of Windows, Word/Excel
  • Experience with OnQ and Delphi preferred
  • Associate's degree preferred
  • Excellent communication, presentation and listening skills
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office, and database applications required
  • Ability to clearly communicate with proper grammar in English with guests/visitors and hotel
  • Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations
  • Previous training in guest relations preferred

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Carrying, lifting, pushing and/or pulling items
  • Frequently standing up and moving around the facility
