The Indiana State Park Inns are one of the oldest state parks lodging systems in the country. The historic Potawatomi Inn, located within Pokagon State Park, sits along the shore of one of Indiana’s largest lakes, Lake James, in Angola, Indiana. The inn features 126 guest rooms, 12 cabins, two onsite restaurants (Lakeview Restaurant and the Courtyard Café), an indoor pool, and 10,000 square feet of banquet/conference space.

Role Overview

A Housekeeping Manager is responsible for managing daily housekeeping operations in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability.


Salary Statement

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $16.45/hr but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

A Day in the Life:

  • Manage daily housekeeping operations to include, but not limited to, maintaining cleanliness, service, and product quality standards of guest rooms, public spaces, restrooms, offices, and banquet/meeting/conference rooms
  • Ensure rooms are clean and available to guests in a timely manner
  • Schedule staff according to standards and forecasted occupancies
  • Conduct monthly linen inventory with an understanding of usage
  • Creation and documentation of deep cleaning schedules for all rooms, carpets, and public spaces
  • Maintain open communication between associates and management and monitors associate relations
  • Assist in monitoring and developing team member performance to include, but not limited to, providing supervision, conducting counseling, evaluations, and delivering recognition and reward
  • Oversee and conduct room inspections
  • Recruit, interview, and train team members

What You'll Need for Success:

Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines. Ability to enforce standards for cleanliness as they apply to all aspects of rooms/suites. Ability to physically move large objects such as carts, large bags of linen, and mattresses. Excellent organization skills, manages time well, correctly prioritizes and is flexible. Able to work weekends and holidays. Degree in Hotel Management or equivalent experience. 2+ years prior housekeeping management experience. Proficient in Windows operating systems

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
