Job description

Position Description

The Community Engagement Assistant manages and enhances the volunteer program, coordinates community events, and builds strong relationships with volunteers. This role includes organizing volunteer activities, maintaining accurate volunteer data, and collaborating with other departments to support the companies mission The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and a passion for community service.

Essential Job Functions

Volunteer Program Coordination

● Oversee all aspects of the volunteer program, including recruitment, onboarding, training, and retention.

● Coordinate volunteer duties for programs such as the Marketplace, Bag Build, and other related events.

● Develop and maintain a volunteer schedule to support all programs and events adequately.

● Engage with volunteers in person, via email, and text to keep them informed, motivated, and connected to the Company's mission.

● Recognize and appreciate volunteer contributions through formal and informal recognition programs.

Data Management and Reporting

● Maintain accurate volunteer records using designated software programs.

● Enter all volunteer data promptly and ensure data integrity.

● Generate monthly reports detailing volunteer participation and program impact.

● Analyze volunteer data to identify trends and opportunities for program improvement.

● Ensure the volunteer management system is up to date with shift dates and times.

Community Engagement

● Collaborate with the Senior Development and Communications Coordinator to plan and execute community events

● Represent the Company at public engagements, creating positive relationships with community members and organizations.

● Develop and deliver presentations to recruit and inspire potential volunteers and community partners.

Event Coordination

● Support the planning and execution of Community events, ensuring adequate volunteer participation

● Assist Senior Development and Communications to coordinate event logistics, including volunteer assignments, material preparations, and event day management.

Administrative Duties

● Respond to volunteer inquiries and resolve any issues promptly and professionally.

● Develop and update materials for the volunteer program, such as applications and training.

● Work within budget for volunteer program activities and events.

Qualifications

● Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Nonprofit Management, or a related field preferred.

● Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred; ability to communicate effectively with Spanish-speaking community members and volunteers is highly valued.

● 1+ year of experience in volunteer coordination, community engagement, nonprofit work, marketing, communications, or a related field preferred.


Hours: M-F 8am-5pm some Saturdays
