A career as an Associate Director or Director, Business Integrator on the New Products and Activities team at National Bank of Canada Capital Markets means acting as a strategic partner in delivering new products and business initiatives. In this role, you leverage your expertise in securities trading and financing to lead the assessment and integration of complex, high-impact initiatives by influencing key operating model design decisions, risk frameworks and integration strategies. This job allows you to have a direct impact on the organization by enabling business growth while ensuring strong operational, regulatory, and risk frameworks.

Your Job

  • Lead the assessment and integration of new securities trading and financing products and activities, including contributing to the definition of end-to-end operational, regulatory, and risk requirements.
  • Develop a strong understanding of trading structures, financing transactions, and business objectives to challenge assumptions, ensure robustness of solutions and influence decision-making.
  • Contribute to the definition of target-state operating models and provide strategic recommendations that support scalable and sustainable growth.
  • Apply an enterprise-wide lens to balance business objectives, operational efficiency, risk management, and regulatory requirements, while influencing partners and stakeholders to align on strategic direction and to deliver scalable, long-term solutions.
  • Drive alignment and collaboration across end-to-end key stakeholders; Operations, Technology, Risk, Legal, Finance, Treasury, and other.
  • Establish and maintain robust governance, controls, implementation plans, and deployment strategies while proactively identifying and resolving risks and issues while escalating material concerns to senior stakeholders and governance committees.

Your Team

This position reports to the Managing Director responsible for transformation and evolution initiatives in the New Products and Activities team within the Capital Markets sector. Our team consists of around 45 highly experienced, talented, and dedicated individuals and stands out for its strong collaboration, agility, and deep understanding of capital markets activities and operating models.

You will work closely with trading, risk management, and functional experts across the organization, gaining end-to-end exposure to products, processes, and business strategies. We foster a dynamic environment where learning, innovation, and knowledge sharing are encouraged.

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field with 7-10 years of relevant experience in Capital Markets
  • Strong understanding of securities trading and financing products (equities, fixed income, repos, securities lending, ETFs, structured products)
  • In-depth knowledge of front-to-back processes including trading, clearing, settlement, custody, collateral management, and reconciliations
  • Understanding of market infrastructures (clearing houses, custodians, central securities depositories, triparty agents, payment systems)
  • Extensive experience leading large-scale, cross-functional transformational initiatives in complex capital markets environments.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
 
For the Toronto location only, proficiency in English is required. French is considered an asset, but it is not mandatory.
