We are looking for a Medical Receptionist to support daily operations in a busy healthcare office in Portland, Oregon. This long-term contract position is ideal for someone who enjoys creating a welcoming patient experience while keeping front-office activities organized and efficient.
Responsibilities:
- Greet patients, answer inquiries, check patients in/out, and provide responsive, professional front-desk support.
- Enter, update, and verify patient information in electronic medical records (EMR) systems to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Organize, label, and maintain patient files (both electronic and physical) for easy retrieval and proper documentation.
- Scan, upload, and distribute medical records, insurance documents, and other paperwork to support efficient clinic workflows.
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments, coordinate provider calendars, and manage appointment logistics.
- Use office software (such as Google Suite or similar systems) to prepare correspondence, track patient data, and support office communication.
- Assist with administrative and billing-related tasks, including verifying insurance information, processing basic documentation, and supporting revenue cycle workflows as needed.
Requirements:
- Prior experience in a medical reception, healthcare office, or patient-facing administrative role.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish required, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations.
- Experience working with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems; Epic experience strongly preferred.
- Strong patient service skills with the ability to communicate professionally and empathetically in a fast-paced clinical setting.
- High level of accuracy in data entry, including patient demographics, insurance information, and medical documentation.
- Experience scheduling patient appointments and managing provider calendars within a healthcare environment.
- Familiarity with medical office workflows, including patient check-in/check-out, insurance verification, and basic billing support.
- Ability to maintain and organize patient records in compliance with confidentiality and HIPAA standards.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., Google Suite or similar tools) to support administrative functions.
