The Atlantic Region Central Billing Office (“ARCBO”) or (“CBO”) provides business office services including billing, collections, cash posting, pre-access management, variance, and customer service to our affiliated Universal Health Services hospitals.

The Atlantic Region CBO is seeking a dynamic and talented Interim Collection Manager.

The primary responsibility of the Collection Manager is to manage all collections relating to the follow up and resolution of patient accounts with commercial insurance payers. Manages collection staff and the collection workflow to assure effective and efficient resolution of unpaid claims.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • This position must be proactive, assertive and articulate knowledge and understanding of payer claims processing philosophies. 
  • Guides individuals internally and externally to desired outcomes.
  • Develops strong working relationships with major payers to assure timely resolution of claims processing issues.
  • Understands complexity of start up operations and project management to assure proper allocation of resources.
  • This position must have the ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and writing.
  • Customer focused, providing service consistently exceeding expectations to both internal and external customers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and others as required.
  • Ability to prioritize needs and effectively manager resources appropriately.

  • Resolves issues associated with patients and or payers escalated by collection specialists.
  • Resolve issues associated with collections between other internal departments of the CBO or external departments of the facilities served. 
  • Works with payers to secure payment on account balances outstanding
  • Counsels staff with productivity, work and disciplinary actions
  • Monitors productivity standards at the individual level and directs staff in meeting departmental goals and objectives.
  • Mentors and coaches staff by providing on-going training as necessary to assure communication of common issues/concerns.
  • Interviews and makes recommendations to hire new employees.
  • Other duties as assigned
