Position Summary:
The Behavior Technician (BT)/ Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) provides direct, compassionate, and evidence-based ABA therapy to children with Autism and developmental disabilities. Under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), the BT implements individualized treatment plans designed to promote skill development and reduce challenging behaviors. This role is foundational to Peachtree’s mission of inclusive, culturally responsive care.
Key Responsibilities
Direct Client Support
- Deliver one-on-one ABA therapy in home, clinic, or community settings
- Implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) with fidelity
- Use ABA techniques to teach communication, social, and adaptive skills
Data Collection and Progress Monitoring
- Record detailed session data on client behaviors and skill acquisition
- Maintain accurate documentation using approved systems
- Communicate progress and concerns to supervising clinicians
Skill Building and Behavior Reduction
- Support development of functional communication, emotional regulation, and daily living skills
- Apply proactive and reactive strategies to reduce challenging behaviors
- Reinforce positive behaviors using individualized reinforcement systems
Family and Team Collaboration
- Provide session updates and insights to caregivers
- Participate in team meetings and ongoing training
- Uphold Peachtree’s values of empathy, transparency, and cultural humility
Professional Conduct and Compliance
- Maintain client confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and BACB ethical standards
- Follow safety protocols and contribute to a nurturing, inclusive environment
- Engage in regular supervision and competency assessments
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Completion of 40-hour RBT training and certification (preferred or willingness to obtain)
- Experience working with children or individuals with developmental disabilities (preferred)
- Strong communication skills, patience, and cultural responsiveness
Work Environment
This position may involve working in various settings including homes, clinics, and community locations. BTs must be able to engage physically with clients, maintain focus during sessions, and adapt to dynamic environments.
