Schedule: Hybrid (4 Days In Office / 1 Day Remote)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $80,000 - $110,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications
About the Position
HRV Conformance Verification Associates, Inc. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Manager - Coatings to join our growing team. This position is responsible for managing protective coatings inspection and quality assurance projects supporting bridges, transportation infrastructure, water and wastewater facilities, industrial structures, and other critical infrastructure projects throughout Pennsylvania and surrounding states.
The successful candidate will oversee projects from kickoff through closeout while coordinating field personnel, managing client relationships, supporting project budgets and schedules, and ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and in compliance with applicable specifications, industry standards, and client requirements. Occasional overnight travel may be required to support projects outside the local area; however, travel is typically limited to short assignments lasting only a few days at a time.
Primary Responsibilities
Project Management & Client Relations (60%)
  • Manage protective coatings inspection and QA/QC projects from project kickoff through closeout
  • Coordinate project schedules, staffing, budgets, and resource allocation
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and project stakeholders
  • Coordinate field personnel including AMPP/NACE Coatings Inspectors and other technical inspection staff
  • Monitor project performance to ensure quality, schedule, and budget objectives are achieved
  • Review inspection reports, technical documentation, and project deliverables for accuracy and completeness
  • Ensure compliance with AMPP, SSPC, ASTM, DOT, and client-specific requirements
  • Support project documentation, reporting, and tracking requirements
  • Identify project risks and implement effective solutions
  • Participate in project meetings, planning sessions, and progress reviews
  • Support proposal development, estimating, and business development activities
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships while identifying opportunities for future work

Project Administration & Business Operations (20%)
  • Prepare project status reports and communicate project updates to senior leadership
  • Review project financial performance, budgets, invoicing, and project profitability
  • Support contract administration and project documentation
  • Coordinate internal resources to ensure timely project execution
  • Mentor and support coatings inspection personnel
  • Assist with recruiting and onboarding coatings inspectors
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives and departmental objectives

Field Support & Quality Oversight (20%)
  • Visit active project sites to support field personnel, clients, and project execution
  • Observe inspection activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and company quality standards
  • Assist with resolving field issues, technical questions, and project challenges
  • Support project kickoffs, client meetings, and critical inspections as needed
  • Maintain a visible presence in the field to strengthen client relationships and support inspection teams

Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of project management, project coordination, coatings inspection, construction management, QA/QC, or related experience
  • AMPP/NACE CIP Level 2 or Level 3 Certification
  • AMPP C-3 Lead Abatement Training
  • Experience managing bridge, transportation infrastructure, industrial, or water/wastewater coating projects
  • Strong understanding of protective coating systems, surface preparation, and coating application practices
  • Experience coordinating multiple projects, clients, and field personnel
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, coating specifications, and contract documents
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Ability to travel occasionally as project needs require

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Construction Management, Business, or a related field (strongly preferred)
  • AMPP/NACE CIP Level 2 or Level 3 Certification
  • AMPP C-3 Lead Abatement Training
  • Experience managing bridge, transportation infrastructure, industrial, or water/wastewater coating projects
  • Experience working with PennDOT, state DOTs, municipalities, or other government agencies
  • Knowledge of AMPP, SSPC, ASTM, and applicable DOT coating specifications
  • Experience preparing project budgets, schedules, and client reports
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with clients, contractors, and project teams
