Position Summary
The Shipping Manager is responsible for leading all outbound logistics operations, ensuring the accurate, timely, and cost-effective shipment of finished goods to customers. This role oversees shipping teams, manages carrier relationships, and drives performance against service and efficiency KPIs. The Shipping Manager partners cross-functionally with warehouse leadership, transportation, customer service, and corporate teams to deliver best-in-class outbound execution.
Key Responsibilities
Outbound Operations Leadership
  • Direct all outbound activities including picking, staging, loading, and shipment executio
  • Ensure on-time and accurate shipment of all customer orders in alignment with OTIF/LOTIF targets
  • Manage daily shipping schedules, dock utilization, and labor planninG
  • Drive throughput while maintaining accuracy and safety standards

Carrier & Transportation Management
  • Manage relationships with carriers (LTL, FTL, parcel, intermodal), Oversee dock scheduling, carrier performance reporting, and freight flow optimization working directly with receiving manager to strategize warehouse space utilization
  • Resolve escalations related to delays, damages, or service failures including conducting RCAs, monitor and track load-times performance metrics

Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop shipping leads, and material handlers, including documented performance reviews
  • Establish clear performance expectations and accountability measures, drive employee engagement, safety culture, and continuous improvement
  • Support workforce planning and staffing for peak and off-peak periods to include employee vacations and shift coverage

Inventory & System Integrity
  • Ensure all outbound transactions are accurately processed in IQMS/WMS, Partner with Inventory Control to resolve discrepancies and reduce shipping errors
  • Maintain accurate shipping documentation (BOLs, packing lists, labels), Support audit readiness and compliance requirements

Performance Management & Continuous Improvement
  • Monitor and drive key KPIs, including: OTIF / LOTIF, Shipping accuracy, Dock-to-load time, Carrier turnaround time
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce cost
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective actions for shipping errors

Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure adherence to all safety policies and regulatory requirements, Promote safe loading practices and equipment operation, Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant shipping environmenT

Qualifications
Required:
  • 5+ years of warehouse or distribution experience
  • 3+ years of leadership experience in shipping or logistics operations
  • Experience managing carrier relationships and transportation processes
  • Strong knowledge of WMS/ERP systems (IQMS preferred)
  • Proven ability to lead teams in a fast-paced environment
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Forklift certification and knowledge of OSHA safety standards a plus

Preferred:
  • Experience in high-volume distribution or manufacturing environments
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience
  • Strong financial and cost management understanding
