Shipping & Logistics Manager

Location: Gunnison, Utah
Department:Shipping
Reports To: Director of Operations
Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Summary

The Shipping & Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing all shipping, freight, and logistics operations for the Gunnison facility. This role ensures products are shipped accurately, efficiently, and cost-effectively while implementing best practices that improve workflow, reduce shipping costs, and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.

The ideal candidate will bring experience in shipping operations, freight management, and logistics planning within a manufacturing or distribution environment. This individual will lead the shipping team, optimize processes, and build strong relationships with carriers and internal departments.

Key ResponsibilitiesShipping Operations Management
  • Oversee daily shipping operations to ensure orders are processed, packed, and shipped accurately and on time.

  • Manage the shipping team, including scheduling, training, and performance management.

  • Ensure proper packaging, labeling, documentation, and compliance with shipping regulations.

Logistics & Freight Management
  • Manage inbound and outbound freight logistics, including LTL, parcel, and truckload shipments.

  • Coordinate with carriers and freight providers to ensure reliable transportation and competitive rates.

  • Monitor shipping costs and identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.

Process Improvement & Best Practices
  • Develop and implement best practices for shipping, freight consolidation, and logistics planning.

  • Improve workflow, layout, and processes within the shipping department.

  • Identify and implement systems or tools that improve tracking, reporting, and shipping accuracy.

Inventory & Coordination
  • Work closely with production, assembly, and customer service teams to ensure timely order fulfillment.

  • Ensure accurate shipping documentation and inventory movement within company systems.

  • Support inventory accuracy by maintaining organized shipping and staging areas.

Compliance & Safety
  • Ensure compliance with all shipping regulations, carrier requirements, and company policies.

  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment within the shipping department.

Qualifications
  • 3-7 years of experience in shipping, logistics, or supply chain operations.

  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

  • Experience working in a manufacturing or distribution environment.

  • Strong knowledge of freight, parcel shipping, and logistics coordination.

  • Experience negotiating with carriers and managing shipping costs.

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work cross-functionally with operations, production, and customer service teams.
