Job description

At Hood Container Corporation, we’re searching for a General Manager to oversee our Hood Container Louisville Converting Operations. As a General Manager, you will play a high-impact & critical role within the business by supporting 120+ non-union employees. Hood Container Corporation acquired this facility in 2024, formerly Independent 2, located in Louisville, Kentucky and includes state of the art converting equipment.

As General Manager your team members will count on you to provide leadership during the day-to-day operation and will look to you for guidance to establish strategic plans and meet short- and long-term goals. In this role, you will report to the Vice President of the Industrial Packaging Business and partner with senior leadership to make an impact within the integrated business and industry.

How You Will Contribute:

  • Model and advance our Guiding Principles & Leadership Characteristics amongst the team.
  • Lead entire operation of plant including shipping & receiving, safety, quality, manufacturing, maintenance, customer service, sales, HR, and finance.
  • Establish and manage plant budget to meet and exceed volume and profitability goals.
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement plans that align with the vision and strategy of the organization and your local facility.
  • Develop and support local leadership to maintain and improve plant efficiency.
  • Continuously keep up to date on current organizational and industry knowledge / practices.
  • Value safety as a top priority and work closely with safety department to enhance current safety protocols and procedures.
  • Support the Hood Container integration value by work closely with business unit leaders to identify and implement improvements and advancements.
  • Develop and manage all capital projects.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers.

What it Takes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related field.
  • Ten (10) years of industry experience in a management role, experience corrugated packaging preferred.
  • Financial management, capital management and budget knowledge as well as ability to interpret and analyze financial data.
  • Ability to develop solutions that balance employees and the needs of the business.
  • Demonstration of dynamic communication and interpersonal skills, able to work with all types of personalities.
  • Adaptability is key as you will need to navigate and demonstrate flexibility in an environment that can be ambiguous and uncertain.
