Job description

Description:

Are you a senior fundraising leader who thrives on leading large, complex programs and delivering results that matter? Do you bring both strategic vision and hands-on leadership, aligning teams, data, and creative to drive meaningful impact?

Avalon is a full-service marketing agency that works with nonprofits to raise funds and amplify their impact. We help our clients grow with bold, data-driven strategies. Our campaigns connect millions of supporters to causes they care about, and our Client Service leaders play a critical role in shaping that impact.

As a Vice President of Client Service, you will lead strategy and execution for a major, high-profile fundraising program. This role is ideal for someone who brings deep expertise in direct mail fundraising, along with the ability to navigate complexity, lead teams, and build strong, trusted client relationships.

You will serve as a senior leader within the organization, guiding large-scale campaigns, mentoring team members, and contributing to the overall success and direction of Avalon.

What Youโ€™ll Do

In this role, you will oversee the strategy, planning, and execution of a large, direct mail fundraising program, guiding work from initial concept through production, analysis, and long-term optimization. You will partner closely with internal teams across Creative, Analytics, and Production to ensure campaigns are thoughtful, integrated, and delivering strong results.

You will serve as a primary client partner, building deep relationships, advising on strategy and performance, and helping navigate complex decisions around budgets, creative direction, and program growth. At the same time, you will lead and mentor a team of fundraising professionals, fostering a collaborative, high-performing environment and supporting their ongoing development.

Requirements:

What Weโ€™re Looking For

Weโ€™re looking for someone with 10+ years of progressive experience in direct response fundraising, including leadership of complex, multi-channel programs. If youโ€™re our ideal candidate, youโ€™ll also possess:

  • Deep expertise in direct mail fundraising, with experience integrating digital and other channels
  • Proven ability to lead large, high-volume or highly complex fundraising programs with multiple moving parts
  • Strong client management skills and experience serving as a senior strategic advisor
  • Experience managing and developing high-performing teams
  • Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, including translating data into clear recommendations
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • A collaborative, enterprise mindset and ability to partner across teams
  • A deep commitment to client success and mission-driven work

Why Youโ€™ll Love Avalon Consulting

Since 1997, Avalon has been committed to making the world a better place by helping our clients raise millions of dollars needed to fulfill their inspiring missions. In April 2026, Avalon merged with VeraData, a data analytics and fundraising intelligence firm. This merger expanded our capabilities and deepened the insights, technology, and strategy we bring to our clients, allowing us to deliver even more powerful, data-informed fundraising solutions while staying true to the mission-driven work that defines us.

We are proud to be a fully remote workplace, hiring the best fundraisers and marketers in the business, no matter where they live in the U.S. We also value opportunities to come together for team and client meetings when needed. We are strategic, analytical, innovative, collaborative, and most of all, passionate about our work. We love what we do, and it shows in our engaged teams, industry recognition, and the results we deliver for our clients.

Avalon is proud of our supportive and collaborative team environment that encourages professional development while recognizing the importance of flexibility and work-life balance. We are committed to fostering a culture that embraces differences every day and where each of our staff is supported and inspired to reach their full potential.

In addition to being a great place to work, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance, generous paid leave, remote work reimbursements, employer-paid life and disability insurance, and a safe harbor 401(k) plan.

The budgeted salary range for this position is $120,000 to $130,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
